If you were the East Hampton resident whose Three Mile Harbor Drive home was robbed in late July, we've got good news and bad news. The good news: Whoever stole your stuff decided to video chat with some of your friends, so now we know what he looks like. The bad news: A dumbass robbed $30,000 worth of your stuff.
Police are working under the presumption that the man who used a stolen laptop is the same person who took it from its rightful owner, along with three more laptops and about $30,000 worth of cameras, jewelry and handbags.
Apparently when he opened iChat on one of the laptops, it was still signed in to its rightful owner's account. One of the victim's friends took a couple of screen grabs during the conversation the burglar had with them. Good grief, Charlie Brown.
There's a $5,000 reward for information leading to an arrest, although due to the shirtless nature of the picture combined with the large container of lotion in the background, we aren't so sure we'd want that particular piece of technology back. At least not without a thorough cleaning.
