So, say you found an ailing, 150-pound baby crocodile who had been wounded by a farmer's gunshot. What would you do?Nurse it back to full health? Feed it up and gain its trust, so the two of you can perform together for tourists? While those might not be the options that would occur to most people, it's the path of action that one man in Costa Rica took.
A fisherman named Chito found an ill croc 20 years ago, christened him "Pocho," and helped him get back on his scaly feet. After spending a decade with the croc, Chito decided to train Pocho to do some tricks.
Now best of friends, they perform daily shows for tourists: Chito gets in the water with Pocho and performs a variety of feats, including spinning the 18-foot croc and lifting his snout out of the water.
But don't take our word for it -- check out the video of Chito and Pocho below.

This is great ,i didnt think you could train one. I guess it would be the same as training a bear or any other wild animal ! I think tho if i was him id keep my guard up ,just in case he changes his mind!! lol

Hey, I guess I'll say what others are thinking. When will the video "Costa Rican man eaten by Croc!" be released??!
Get out of the water, dude. The question isn't if, but, when, will the croc do what normal crocs do!!!!

The crocodile apparently suffered brain damage when it was shot through the eye. Somewhat like a lobotomy, I guess.
This would likely account for its unnatural behavior in "performing" with its keeper.
Crocs have very primitive brains and would not be trainable under ordinary circumstances.

For a minute there I thought I'd be reading a story about a man with the nickname "Lefty" or "Pegleg." Still don't think I'd get sooo close though. Crocs and gators have been around for a long, long time because they do two things well, and that's breed and hunt. They have brains roughly the size of a large marble and nobody should assume they will remember how well someone treated them when they were down. People, even kind ones, are just lunch waiting to happen.

I agree with everyone on here. Crocs are NOT stupid, very smart animals. BUT, still a wild animal regardless of him being friends with the croc it will get tired of doing tricks and bye bye..... just like the long time trainer of the Whale that decided one day he would kill his trainer/friend......he should just let it be and keep it at distance friends to be on the safe side. Crocs are unpredictable. Even Steve Irwin, had his favorite croc, but made sure people knew they weren't to be trusted cause they are wild. Obviously, he didn't listen to Steve, lol.
