At a recent Boy Scout event in College Station, Texas, scout Jacob Smith flipped the switch that fired a world record 3,200 model rockets into the airHmm, we wondered, was this the same Jacob Smith who once caught a 40-pound, 37-inch flathead catfish while on a fishing trip with his grandfather? Photographic evidence seems to suggests that it is. And if so, forget about merit badges -- there needs to be a comic book about this kid.
Read on to see a video of the record-breaking rocket show, as well as a photo of Smith's impressive catch.

Not impressed at all. Here's why...
1 He was SELECTED from 29k Scouts to push the button
2 He did not build them
3 He did not rig them
4 He did not set up the pads or do the wiring
All this kid did was get picked to push the button nothing more.

No Ted...John isn't jealous. Neither am I. And I agree with John. All this kid did was push a button. It's a wonder he had the brains to do that. By the way Ted, have you ever been mistaken for a man?

John's right. My guess is the kid's parents are good at PR. Next thing you know he'll be on a reality show.

AOL you are the worst. Can you not get your facts straight? Slip Shod reporting. It was 3 2 0 0 rockets, get it? Thirty Two Hundred. Not the 32,000 what your inept reporter stated.
ARE YOU PAYING FOR AOL? YOU MUST BE CRAZY!

Knucklehead reporting. Doesn't anyone check facts any more. It was College Station, Tx where the event took place. 100 miles from Houston.

SCOUT PARTICIPATION IN ANY EVENT IS HELD WITH ADULT SUPERVISION, AND IS AGE-ASSOCIATED. THE SCOUTS LEARN BY WORKING WITH OLDER SCOUTS AND ADULTS. PUSHING THE SWITCH TO LAUNCH WAS NO TRIVIAL
MATTER.
