agents of crackedWhen Cracked.com's Dan O'Brien and Michael Swaim set out to create "Agents of Cracked," a made-for-the-Web video series on a low, low budget, they had no idea what would become of it.

So, when their low expectations of success yielded an overwhelmingly positive reaction from fans who continue to plead, beg and petition for more, they knew they'd reached their shared life-long dream: to become Internet badasses who were 20 percent more likely to land hot chicks (despite residual traces of nerdiness).

Centered around the two Cracked writers' relationship at work, the series aims at supplying laugh-out-loud absurdity, unwavering wit and the sort of magic only true on-screen chemistry can birth. It's an exaggerated tale of life working at a Web magazine and features characters like "The Chief," a scary editor who lurks in a shadowy office, and hilarious, loosely-based-on-real-life scenarios.

"We wanted to play with the basic odd-couple set-up, and see how far we could take it," Swaim tells Asylum in an exclusive interview. "At this point, anything goes."

michael swaim, dan o'brien, agents of crackedSince the series debuted in November of 2009, it's been the recipient of sparkling reviews and sweet, unadulterated adoration from fans across the Interweb. Season one of the show even garnered the Audience Choice Award at the 2010 Streamy Awards.

"It's great that we have these supporters. It makes us raise the bar for ourselves, which is a fun and difficult challenge," says O'Brien, who is, safe to say, the "saner" of the two.

He adds, "It's just sort of the way that Cracked feels about all of our content: we need to keep making something that's as strong or, ideally, stronger."

Because fans appreciated the first season so much, they petitioned for a second and continue lapping each episode up the second it hits the site. Fortunately, the duo has no plans to stop filming.

"As long as those supporters still want to see these characters being idiots, then I'd like to say we're certainly open to that idea," O'Brien tells us.

Swaim added, "Right now, we're focused on season 2.5. We're trying to go 16 or 17 episodes."

Viewers can expect all kinds of shenanigans and adventures in the episodes to come, including the return of The Chief and a dinner gathering at Michael's house. There's even an episode based on a true story where Dan is confronted by the FBI and Secret Service after writing an article titled "How to Kidnap the President's Daughter."
