Today's Halloween costume-related warning comes from My Parents Loved Halloween, a new Tumblr that features this spectacular Mr. T costume fail from 1984, the year of the Macintosh computer, "Ghostbusters" and "The A-Team" costumes.
This poor little kid has no idea how offensive he is, all dressed up in blackface. He's also lucky the police didn't shoot him for "possessing a gun while looking black." (Racial profiling was a big problem even then.)
Couldn't they have just given the kid a mohawk (even a fake one) and called it a night? The T-shirt lets us know what he's supposed to be, so there's no need to get all Al Jolson on this poor kid.

Back in the day, my kid sister LOVED Milli Vanilli. She and her friend dressed as Rob and Fab for Halloween one year. They purchased dark foundation and braided their wigs. They didn't mean to be insensitive. They just wanted to be true to the men they 'loved'. Oh, and they thought they looked fabulous! It may've be politically incorrect, but it was damned funny. I had to drive them around and I couldn't stop laughing. They worked so hard on their getup.
