Our happy hour fact to amaze your drinking buddies with.
A person's motivation for why he is having sex has a big influence on how satisfying he finds it afterward.
Researchers from the University of Texas
surveyed 544 college-aged men and women about what their reasons were for having sex
. The scientists also asked the participants to rate their sexual experiences.
They found both men and women are most satisfied with sex when they are in love with and committed to their partners, as opposed to doing it to try a new experience, boost self-esteem or get something out of it, like material goods. Somewhat surprisingly, it was the men who had a stronger link between romantic love and sexual satisfaction.
No word on how satisfying it is when a person has sex just to have something interesting to say when filling out a sex survey.
