An unlucky Spanish man walked backwards onto railway lines and landed on his back, only to be saved by a quick-thinking off-duty policeman with only seconds to spare. The injured traveler is now safe and sound, but for a minute or so, as you'll see from the CCTV footage below, things were looking pretty bad.
After falling onto the tracks when no one else was on his platform, it was the commuters on the other side who were frantically waving at the oncoming train's driver to stop.
But an off-duty cop realized that the gestures weren't going to be enough, took off his jacket and stepped into the lion's den, dragging the hurt man off the tracks just as the train brushed past him.
The name of the policeman in question? Angel. No, really. Angel. See the heroic deed yourself below.

AMAZING!!!! Thanks Angel I am so happy that someone in this world put others before themselves. You are a true hero and I wish all the best for you. You took total control of something that could have been out of control and turned it into somthing the whole world needs to re-learn. Looking forward to seeing you on the talk show circuit.

It appears that the man helping him just casually walked over there. Maybe he was actually trying to decided if he really wanted to take the chance, then instincts just took over. I do NOT agree that the man falling off the platform did it on purpose. (Although it does seem strange he was walking backward, and must certainly have realized he was close to the tracks.) Strange behavior, but I don't think it was intentional.

The man that fell onto the track must have either been on drugs or completely drunk. If you watch the video, he was casually walking backwards towards the train tracks. Anyone that oblivious to their surroundings could only be high on something. Most modernized train stations have red/yellow stips along the platform edge warning people to stay away and keep their distance. This is Madrid, so nothing of that sort exists. Luckily for the man that fell, there was an off duty policeman that actually bothered to jump down and save him, unlike the rest of the public. The policeman certainly didn't seem to be in much of a rush though. He only saved the guy by a few seconds at most. If had taken any more time, he may have actually caused more harm, since the man would have been on the tracks rather than between them when the train came by.

PATHETIC PEOPLE! Only 1 person did something to help!!! Everybody else would have watched this man get mutilated??? How would you respond to this situation? A. Hey, lets stand here for nearly a minute and wave at this speeding train and lets hope that it will stop in time. or B. Get the guy off the tracks and problem solved.

Can't you get electrocuted from railroad tracks? Especially if your dragging someone, which would make contact with all the rails. That's what I would be afraid of.

How does this prove that god is real? The only thing it proves is that there was a guy there willing to help. !

Thank you Angel, not just for your brave, heroic deed, but for showing the world how we need to work together, in our communities and in the world in general. Everyone tried to help a bit in this situation, from flagging the train, to Angel's heroics, to the people who took the man who'd fallen, from Angel, and pulled him back onto the platform. Everyone forgot about black, white, yellow & red, rich, poor, fat, and what religion each other were, and they all worked together for humanity's sake. Why can't it be this simple all the time? Why don't people feel the joy they should from helping others and doing good deeds just for the good feelings, and because it's the right thing to do, instead of for the payback they expect? PEACE ON EARTH, GOOD WILL TOWARDS MEN....

Things like that happen everyday, man helping fellow man, we just don't see them. It is nice to know that there is some humanity left in the world and we had the opportunity to see it.
