An unlucky Spanish man walked backwards onto railway lines and landed on his back, only to be saved by a quick-thinking off-duty policeman with only seconds to spare.

The injured traveler is now safe and sound, but for a minute or so, as you'll see from the CCTV footage below, things were looking pretty bad.

After falling onto the tracks when no one else was on his platform, it was the commuters on the other side who were frantically waving at the oncoming train's driver to stop.

But an off-duty cop realized that the gestures weren't going to be enough, took off his jacket and stepped into the lion's den, dragging the hurt man off the tracks just as the train brushed past him.
