More dogs than cats will be getting a present this Christmas.A survey of 1,000 pet owners by AP-Petside.com has found that 53 percent plan on buying their furry friend a gift this holiday season. Among dog owners, that percentage is 56, whereas it is only 48 percent for cat owners.
Women are slightly more likely to buy their pet a gift than men, and the percentage of folks buying presents for their animals has increased from 43 percent in 2008, despite the bad economy.
We can't even imagine the hurt on the adorable little faces of the 47 percent of pets who won't be getting anything under the tree this year. Some people are monsters.

My dogs and cats, get bags of stuff. They don't just each get a toy, they get so much stuff I just dump it all out on the floor and let them dig thru it. They probably get more stuff then most kids.

I have 4 dogs and they all get xmas gifts. I would say that when you think of a cat they really would not react the same way a dog does when recieving the gift. dogs rip the paper play with it, they get the toy play with it and continuously play wit it. A cat would look at you asking why? What should I do? you would have to open the gift then they would play with it but without the enthusiam a dog has! Dogs just appreciate their toys more than cats!

My cat will play with toys but he really likes a sip of Leinenkugel "Red" -an upper midwest beer. Only a sip. Otherwise it could prove fatal. Besides, a sober cat is hard enough to deal with. He's not interested in catnip; just that one beer.

I am buying my cats a cat tree, cat bowls and toys with cat nips. I am spending more on my cats then I am on family and friends. I think there is more of a variety on dog gifts then there are gifts for cats.

I believe the reason is dog's have the ability to scratch open the paper for the present where as cats don't. All are pets should get presents after all they are members of the family.
