Mucking up your own suicide attempt has got to be a real blow to the self-esteem. But failing because a pile of trash got in the way between you and self-inflicted death? Ouch.
When 26-year-old Vangelis Kapatos found out that his landlord was evicting him from his rent-controlled apartment in Midtown Manhattan, he apparently took the ruling literally and jumped out his ninth-floor window.
But thanks to the NYC Sanitation Department for not doing its job after the snowpocalypse hit the East Coast on Dec. 26, a week's worth of trash had piled up, breaking Kapatos' fall like a smelly, rat-infested pillow.
Kapatos is in critical but stable condition and was taken to Bellevue Hospital for evaluation. According to the N.Y. Daily News, he had just been released from psychiatric treatment before the jump and had previously attempted to kill himself. For the sake of Kapatos, his family and NYC garbagemen, we hope he finally realizes he's just not that good at suicide and stops trying.

To quote the Frank Zappa song... "Find a bridge and take a jump...Just be sure to get it right the first time....Cuz nothings worse than a suicide chump."
