Being positioned in a physically higher place seems to make people more generous and helpful to others.Researchers from the University of North Carolina conducted a series of experiments in which people were in higher locations (like the top of the stairs) or in lower locations (like inside an orchestra pit). They found that people were more generous with their money and their time, and were nicer in general, when in the higher spot.
The researchers believe metaphors such as "moral high ground" or "bottom of the barrel" may actually influence the way people behave when the find themselves in those positions in real life.
So, the next time you find yourself alone in the elevator with that cute girl from your office building, you should probably ask her out -- providing the elevator is going up.

People from the South are by far the more generous and nice in America. The North is rude and manipulative but the South people are great.
