The Alamo Drafthouse in Austin, Texas, may seem far away from Frodo Baggins' epic path to destroy the One Ring. However, the cinema house proudly held its annual 12-hour-long "Lord of the Rings" event this past weekend. On Jan. 9, attendees watched all three films in a row and gorged themselves on a series of seven meals. Why seven? That's how many times a hobbit eats every day, duh.
Though we're a little sad we missed it, our 2012 to-do list now has a front-runner. Those who did attend were treated to a banquet free of cram and petty dwarf roots. Executive chef John Bullington's menu boasted strawberries and cream, grilled New Zealand lamb chops and stewed coney (with taters!). There was also plenty of alcohol for those with a Dwarven tolerance.
Check out a video of the event below.

I would have been in Hobbit heaven if I had known about this event and had a chance to attend. The food looks quite tasty.

It's just a chicken gumbo, big deal. What they mostly were seen eating in the movies was traveling rations of a type of bread, wrapped in leaves. I have read the trilogy, and I don't recall there being any recipes in any of the books, especially seven of them. Someone has Gandalfed those people. These aren't the foods you're looking for. Move along. Move along.

You've got your films mixed up. Obi-Wan kenobi said "these aren't the droids yo're looking for" in Star Wars Episode IV.
