The Alamo Drafthouse in Austin, Texas,
may seem far away from Frodo Baggins' epic path to destroy the One Ring. However, the cinema house proudly held its annual 12-hour-long "Lord of the Rings"
event this past weekend. On Jan. 9, attendees watched all three films in a row and gorged themselves on a series of seven meals. Why seven? That's how many times a hobbit eats every day, duh.
Though we're a little sad we missed it, our 2012 to-do list now has a front-runner. Those who did attend were treated to a banquet free of cram and petty dwarf roots
. Executive chef John Bullington's menu boasted strawberries and cream, grilled New Zealand lamb chops and stewed coney (with taters!
). There was also plenty of alcohol for those with a Dwarven tolerance.
