"When I was a virgin, sex had a nebulous but profound meaning, which was promptly lost as soon as I bedded my best friend during senior year of high school.

"Since then, I've usually slept with guys the first time I hooked up with them. Often, it's not because I've particularly wanted to, but because it seemed pointless otherwise, and I was too ambivalent about the act itself to stop the rhythm of things.
