The reason UNLV lost that game was lack of preparation. Jerry Tarkanian let his players loose in New Orleans to party while Bob Knight kept his players on the court practicing.

Jan 23rd 2011 8:10AM The shot clock and 3-pointers are the reasons college basketball has become so unpredictble. I'm certainly no fan of the "four corners offense" that Dean Smith plagued the game with, but I'm also no fan of forcing action at the expense of good execution. The advent of the 3-point basket paved the way for bad-to-mediocre teams to get a hot hand and erase a lead earned through good play by better teams. Overcoming a double-digit lead used to require a stout defensive effort in conjunction with making field-goals and converting foul-shot opportunities. In today's game it just takes a sudden barrage of long-range jumpers hitting their mark. I know I'm the minority here, but I enjoyed the game much more when it was a chess match rather than a free-for-all.

Mr. Baldwin says that Sean doesn't seem to understand that saying negative things about someone can hurt them. Then he turns right around and bad-mouths Sarah Palin and George Bush with absolutely no cause...! Mr. Baldwin has some more apologizing to do.

Jan 1st 2011 11:19PM Every year the Big Ten sucks??? Michigan won the Rose Bowl and National championship in 1997. Ohio State won the National championship in 2002. In Michigan's last bowl game in 2008 they beat Tim Tebow and Florida. Last year Ohio State beat Oregon. Michigan has a commanding win/loss record againt the SEC even with this debacle added in. You should do some research before you turn your fingers loose on an unsuspecting keyboard.

Dec 31st 2010 10:57PM spkurmind...when Cam Newton was at Florida he was in possession of stolen laptops. Now he's in possession of the Heisman trophy. No chain gang for Cam. The NCAA didn't want Boise State or TCU to be in the championship game, so they cleared ol' Cam to play just to be sure it wouldn't happen. After all, what the NCAA wants is a lot more important than what is right and decent!

Coach Auriemma has produced a dynasty at U-Conn and in the process made the team a rather hated entity much like Duke and North Carolina (at least under Dean Smith) on the men's side. He and his teams deserve congratulations for their marvelous run, but now it's back to trying to get that first win again.

Dec 5th 2010 3:37PM It's all about money. If your school isn't big and rich, doesn't belong to a big rich conference, then you're out in the cold. Look where TCU was ranked at the beginning of the season then look where Auburn was ranked at the beginning. How did Auburn manage to go from nowhere right over TCU, a school that did everything it could possibly do on the football field? And what about Boise State, a team with only a single loss and ranked in the top ten, getting a kids' matchup in a meaningless bowl game? There's something terribly wrong with a system that discriminates against schools and conferences based on size and money. The BCS has sucked from its inception and shoud be outlawed.
