May 8th 2009 9:54PM She made me really happy today. I think Iliza's pretty hot, in a good way though (not like inyourface Megan Fox). She's got a fan in me for being such a cutie!
NVIDIA licenses PhysX technology for Sony's PlayStation 3 {Engadget}
Mar 18th 2009 10:39PM Sony only wishes that the disc format flank formation would've given them this war, much how like DreamCast died because of not having DVD.
Bluray, bluetooth, built in wi-fi, memory stick readers and sixaxis DO NOT a better game make.
Specs-wise, the two consoles pretty much even out. CellBE might be better than Xenon, but Xenos spanks RSX. CellBE has 2 PPE + 6 SPE threads of execution (7th in use by OS, 8th locked for process yields), while Xenon has 3 dual-threaded cores, for a total of 6. PS3 has 256MB GDDR3 and 256MB XDR, while x360 has 512MB GDDR3 and 10MB EDRAM. But specs aside, x360 is a contender to reckon with.
PPE threads do not qualify for being called cores as they cannot be bootstrapped. Programs see the ONLY the threads of the active bootstrapped cores, in PS3's case the PPE. Therefore, the CellBE logically exists as a dual-threaded PPE with its SUBORDINATE SPE threads of execution. Why else do you think EIB exists? They need to be fed work from the PPE, hence why developers must OPTIMIZE their games to take advantage of CellBE.
In x360, Xenon manifests itself to programs as 6 available threads of execution. They do not depend on each other for work. This is why programming for Xbox 360 has been considered easier.
Also, Xenos being a fully Unified Shader Architecture GPU gives it a substancial edge over RSX's Standard Shader Array (dedicated pipelines for vertex and pixel shaders). Xenos will be more efficient in handling the oncoming workload, as developers can tailor their game engines to emphasize how their scenes play out and not run into too many stalls over full pipelines.
Editorial: Ten reasons why Windows Mobile 6.5 misses the mark {Engadget}
Mar 18th 2009 5:43PM I think they really do need to step it up, but let's be reasonable here.
Apple makes both the phone AND the OS. The closest to that kind of relationship that Microsoft has is with the Zune.
If they really wanted to make it, they would take what they have and roll with it!!!
Dear Microsoft: stop with the half-ass approach. Take a cue from Apple. Get yourself in the "lock down" position, which is to all-out push your product as "being more". Then get the atmosphere clouded with APIs and SDKs for developers out there to help fuel your concept of "being more". Once you have the ecosystem in place, the rest is just user-centric upgrades and CLOSE attention to your feedback.
When you have a product, you have gotten past the first hurdle. When you have a PLATFORM, you're already in the game. When you have both and you're not taking the plunge, you're just not taking advantage of what you have.
Microsoft could run so much innovation all over Apple with the Zune if they wanted to. Why? Because it has problems! Room for improvement. Like input. So they get their brains working and actually solve it...THAT'S innovation. (The scrolling character entry isn't perfect, but it's a start)
Point is that Microsoft needs to BE like Apple if they want to BEAT Apple.
Call of Duty 4 Xbox 360 box art features 'Storage Required' sticker [Update] {Joystiq}
Jul 23rd 2007 6:56PM I'm sorry guys but skolding the Xbox on not having a hard rive? Wasn't it the FIRST to have one? In the last gen! And please! Stop dissing the Xbox on things that aren't true. Now look, you SonyFaqs remeber a time when it was all "oh xbox live...ain't gonna make it". Now you all swoon over PSN which is a rip off of live?! And live! STILL does it better?! Now it's this HDD shit?! It was just console SKU meant for the less fortunate, a hand to those with Nextgen dreams in their hearts, but not enough cash to realize it! And they're EVIL for that?! A console that costs considerably less than its competitor?! Even Sony tried to pull off a pricecut (man, that was THE cheapest bait'n'switch ever!) just so they could try to bring in the numbers that 360 does. The truth is that they should've STARTED OUT at that price. Now what's up? They drop their 20gb (sayonara suckers) and then they plan to cutoff their 60gb (ouch, since it sold the most of the 2) in favor of an 80gb model? That basically leaves you with ONE officially supported SKU, their still over-priced $599 model. Well, at least MS gives you options.
299 gets you core (soon replaced by prem)
399 gets you prem (soon replaced by elite)
479 gets you elite (soon replaced by Falcon)
or maybe all units will be up to "Falcon specs" with storage and features varying.
