Dec 12th 2010 11:19PM Say What? you say (or write)that like you think it's a bad thing to be a lesbian. A secure person won't give a rat's patoot what the idiot press writes about their sexual identity. An actor is not likely to be harmed by rumors that she is gay. Hollywood loves lesbians...
Students Get the 'Urkel Treatment' for Wearing Saggy Pants {Asylum}
Dec 12th 2010 10:48PM the article doesn't mention race, although the picture does inform us about the student's race - but not the principal. These people who are so sure that this will erupt into a racial incident with Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson butting in - they are assuming that the principal is white, which would probably have to be the case if anyone was going to suggest that this principal is guilty of racism. Why so quick to assume that he's white? Don't you think it's just as likely that he is not white? Just wondering...
Celebrities Deny 'Dancing With the Stars' Snubs {AOL TV}
Sep 2nd 2010 4:52PM OMG, since when were complete sentences required on Twitter? The object is to convey a message any way you can in 160 words or less. Proper English, punctuation, spelling and sentence structure is only a sign that you're over 50 and "just don't get it". Sad, I agree, but it's all about WHAT you can pack into the 160 word limit - not how you pack it in.

Jun 22nd 2010 11:25PM I know it is so tempting to believe that our loved ones inhabit the bodies of animals in our presence, but there is a possible explanation. Animals do have emotions and some animals are sensitive to strong emotion from humans. We all see this in dogs - they know when we're sad and will do anything to make us happy again. Cats know - but they're just worried that we'll forget to feed them in our grief, so they cozy up to us and act as sweeeet as possible to keep our attention on them. Horses, elephants and dolphins are just some of the animals who experience emotion and can tune into human emotion. Doves tend to be comfortable around humans - that's why they're so easy to train. A dove could visit a grieving family in its normal routine of whatever birds do all day and be impressed with the emotion coming from people as a group. It may feel curiosity and stick around to explore this quiet and unusual state of humanity, or perhaps it is actually intelligent enough to recognize human grief and want to comfort people. After all, humans are a source of food for birds and this doesn't escape them. I'm not saying that they only love us because we feed them - they recognize that we need caring sometimes in order to be there for them. I don't care if this sounds too touchy feely. It makes a lot of sense to me (and I am a believer of visitations and a lot of ghost stories). I just think there's a reason for birds to do this, but I don't know enough about butterflies and dragonflies to take that one on.

Jun 22nd 2010 11:06PM Thank you for being the sane voice of Christianity. Unfortunately, it's the others who get heard more. The come to the religion out of fear and it never leaves them. It's the only way they can relate.

Jun 22nd 2010 10:16PM My 21 yr old son attended a solstice celebration last weekend at the home of a pagan family who have an acreage in the country north of us. I had been very nervous about this BEFORE he told me they were Wiccan. When he got home he said, "it's more like they're pagan - not necessarily Wiccan". Either way, as soon as I knew they were Wiccan or Pagan, I relaxed. I felt there was nothing to worry about, because I've never met a Pagan or Wiccan I didn't like, while I was raise by Evangelical parents and have had a lifetime of grief from horrible people who used God as a disguise for their own evil. AND, I was right to relax - the Pagan's did not proselytize (Christians certainly would), they provided a huge feast and lots of music and dancing for a crowd that included people they'd never met (like my son). He didn't have a tent, so he was welcomed into their home to put his sleeping bag on their living rm. floor. He came home much happier than I recall being after a Christian teen field trip.
On the one hand we have happy people who worship the natural and our connection to it and on the other hand we have what I see as miserable people who fear a god and preach about fire and brimstone. They tend to write terribly with bad grammar, poor vocabulary, bad typing and a wealth of typos.
An I being picky? My point is that they are usually disadvantaged, poorly educated and clinging to life with fear of fire and brimstone. They mostly attract others like themselves. With this in mind, I don't know why any of us bothers to respond to them.
