Olympics: Spain and the height of cultural insensitivity {Gadling}

Aug 14th 2008 1:16PM So since I'm italian-american the descriptive term for me is a "wop" even though I was born here?

That's complete bs that these words aren't offensive. If it promotes a steriotype, then it is offensive.

Verizon Bans Libshitz Family From Using Last Name in E-Mail Address {Switched}

Aug 6th 2008 8:11AM homosexual is not a dirty word.
You were most likely banned for being overtly rude about your beliefs. Rudeness tends to be offensive.

And the word ban in email names is not so much a PC thing. More of a "perhaps we should question whether this address will be used for spamming and dirty things" issue. Verizon would certainly be feeling a whole lot more pain if they didn't do what they could to prevent spammers from spamming.

Paranoia Alert -- Monster Washes up on New York Shore {Asylum}

Aug 1st 2008 4:01PM Turtles backbones and ribs are fused to the shells. (Same as Ankylosaurs used to have.) A shelless turtle would look a lot more gruesome than that.

Kindness Is Good and Homosexuals Are Kind. {Queer Sighted}

Oct 22nd 2007 6:28PM My God that women is crazy. She's scaring her own kids.

What show was that from? It looks like wife-swap.

The Queer Welcome Wagon Is Officially Open For Business! {Queer Sighted}

Oct 19th 2007 7:37PM David: The gay community in America is just as against the killing of gay people in the Middle East as I guess you are.
Thanks for the concern.

However, there's a difference between hating and causing someone to hate themselves. If you teach someone and convince them that "God loves you and wants you to stop being gay" it causes conflict within that person. It'll cause them to pray every night telling God (or Jesus) that they want to stop being gay so that they can go to heaven too.
When a gay person turns to God to "make me straight" and it DOESN'T work, there may be various results.
1) complete loss of faith and or conversion to a more fitting religion.
2) a trip to ex-gay ministry that turns the person into a crazed robot mascot for the ex-gay therapy.
3) suicide.
4) turn into a homophobe and preach against the masses as well as yourself.
5) marry someone of the opposite gender and deprive yourself of a fulfilling life (simply add children to give yourself more reason to stay in a marriage that doesn't work).

That's what happens in real life. In the United States.
And in some states, it IS against the law to be gay. They just don't kill you though.
The gay community is for the safety of all people.
Whose safety are you for?

"Reborn" In A Glass Closet {Queer Sighted}

Oct 19th 2007 6:09PM If you look at one of the other videos in the YouTube line-up, there's one that shows Charlene's "10 Steps to get out of the Gay 'lifestyle.'" One of them says "being born gay" was a myth thought up by the "white gay establishment."

What...the...Hell?

Are these sick freaks turning her into a racist too? Geez, when people turn you into a delusional mascot for their cause they really dump the trash in the brain don't they.

Church Prays Clay Is Not Gay, While Young People Decry Christians {Queer Sighted}

Oct 15th 2007 6:17PM Just because it's in the National Enquirer doesn't mean it's true though. They make up stories all the time.

Anyway, I wonder what will happen when the guys at the campus parish find out the female violinist is gay.

He Said, He Said: QueerSighted Debates Folsom Street and Public Displays of Sexuality {Queer Sighted}

Oct 4th 2007 7:48PM I think the most extreme people of both sides get the most attention and make their sides look bad.

The gay people who do engage in innapropriate behavior in public a small minority of the gay community. Most gay people are well behaved in public and know not to be lude and rude. But the innapropriate ones get the most attention. They're unusual. It's hard not to notice people who behave sexually in public. The problem comes from grouping these guys with the rest of the gay community and assuming that all gay people behave this way.

In the same way, it hurts the catholic church when the pope behaves like a complete idiot and keeps insulting gays, protestants, muslims, and everyone else with a slightly different opinion than him. It makes society think that every catholic is egocentric and ignorant when they are obviously not.

Individuals have a right to their own opinion (no matter how weird they get). Individuals and groups also have a responsibility to not make ignorant remarks about an entire group of people based on the behavior of a few.

Savage Gay Humor on 'The Colbert Report' {Queer Sighted}

Oct 4th 2007 6:29PM That was awesome.

I love the way Colbert imitates O'Reilly's immaturity in every episode perfectly. Too bad O'Reilly is serious when he rants like a child.

Answering To An Angry Audience {Queer Sighted}

Sep 27th 2007 9:12PM Last spring we had John Ashcroft speak at Hofstra.
He was full of it.
His fangirl in the audience tried to make things better by trying to make his critics shut up and sit down.
I didn't get to go but I heard from my friends that he was pathetic.

Ashcroft actually had the guts to say that the people outside protesting him didn't have any appreciation for their rights. This country gives us the right to protest unlike many other countries.
