And this writer certainly knows how to put a spin on stats. 50-60% of people said that Obama didn't factor into their vote because he is IRRELEVANT as a leader and as an influence on others (much to his inflated ego's dismay) NOT because they are obsessed with him either way.

The parents allow their children to go because they probably get some paltry sum for it, and they hope that maybe the exposure will help the family in some way. These children are being completely exploited and strung along.

Oct 29th 2009 9:39PM Joe, I completely agree. I saw a story about the little boy right after the movie won the award. The boy was still living in a make-shift house without running water, electricity, or plumbing in the slums. The floor was dirt; their "stove" and "lighting" consisted of a broken gas lantern of some sort; and their bathroom was the ditch right behind their "home." These kids were completely exploited. Maybe the reason that these children haven't been in school is that they have to help the family earn what little money they can each day so they can eat. Maybe the kids aren't in school because they get sick often, and medical care is a completely foreign concept in their world. A child cannot learn in a school if that child does not have a safe & secure home environment. Education becomes just a dream when one must fiercely struggle just to survive each day. If they want to see the children in school 70% of the time, they need to do something to help those children NOW and not 10 or 15 years from now.

Oct 26th 2009 1:36AM Not all women in Southern Cali are like that. I can honestly say that I have NEVER dated a man for financial reasons, and I am MORE than hot enough to do it if I wished. I have more respect for myself than that. So, while yes, there are plenty of vapid bimbos in So. Cal., don't say that the majority are this way. The rest of the nation has a poor view of California because of these types of comments.

These "artists" only have the ability to whine because we have strong and courageous people who are willing to defend our nation and confront these vile, virulent creatures. I wonder if they would defend Nazi Death Camp guards so fervently. I equate these terrorists with Nazis. Both groups meticulously and intentionally planned the mass execution of completely innocent human beings. Many of the Nazi guards were just shot immediately by the Allies, and others were hanged to death. I think that if we were able to simply execute the terrorists then there might be a little merit to the torture argument. But the liberal freaks would protest to no end if we put any of them to death, even though they murdered thousands of our citizens and would murder more given the chance.

I've never met ANYONE who didn't think that the obsession the paparazzi has is out of control. I don't think that stars should loose their basic humanitarian rights simply because they chose their careers. Whatever happened to decency? I'd be pi**ed too if a group of strangers was sticking cameras and other things in my face all the time, while saying really rude and inappropriate things about me, my family, & friends. The company's sales people pressure you on the spot to sign the agreement, hardly giving you enough time to thoroughly read the contract that is a mile long. The problem is that once you have signed, you are stuck. How come with so many other documents that one signs, she has the option to back out later and change her mind about what she thought seemed fair if it no longer seems fair? Cell phone companies slap insane fees on anyone opting out later. There needs to be more regulation in the industry.
At any rate, I am tired of reading all of the self-righteous people that post informing everyone that they need to take responsibility. Everyone is so quick to cast stones and endeavor to project some sort of ethic superiority when stories like this are run. I wonder how many of these people help out a neighbor in need or show true responsibility when no one is looking.
