Oct 30th 2009 7:20PM credit is what enabled the middle class to develop a comfortable lifestyle. it only became "our fault" and a criminal enterprise the minute the big corporations decided they could get their labor elsewhere and moved on offshore (also stealing our labor for pennies on the dollar as they underpaid and undervalued their workforce). the point is, the banks, congress, our political leaders, the whole bag of phlegm knew that as workers we would no longer be able to pay off our credit because we wouldn't have jobs or real income salaries, so they pulled out the rug from under us and called in the note, as it were.
the mob has nothing on these guys when it comes to viciousness or scheming, slimy criminality. there's a special place in hell reserved for them. and, guess what, we're headed for another surprise! surprise crash. this time we're gonna hit bottom. i'd build really high walls were i any of them.

Oct 23rd 2009 12:16AM any frozen dinners of chicken will be the cheapest they can get and we'll have to check the labels on everything to make sure there are no chicken parts because those will be the cheapest as well. they will come from china. and they will be filthy and make us ill and we won't know that it came from what we purchased.

no salad bars or bbq chickens unless they're perdue. and we don't even know if they are involved.

we are in bad shape as a nation, as a consumer, as a worker and we have a POTUS comparable to a bag of phlegm when it comes to thinking through these issues.

forget about the food. put a fork in us. we're done.

Oct 2nd 2009 7:40PM there is no job market that is why there are no jobs for anyone, despite a resume that will get even the computer excited. anyway, as a previous poster commented, what's in is "begging like a dog and getting pay so low you can't live on it" -- i would also add, be prepared to do three jobs instead of the usual one.
however, that being said...
if you feel you are that valuable to a few special companies, address the letter to the ceo or president of the company and mark the envelope personal.
be sure that you have very specific experience and a track record to offer.
that can work.

Dec 13th 2008 4:51PM jcpenny's could be sued i suppose for hiring just about the dumbest receptionist in town. first of all, she should have communicated that she would have the customer seen by their supervising salon colorist. the colorist would have appropriately looked at ms. mcelmore's hair to see its condition and asked whether any other chemicals had been used recently.

it is unusual to go into a salon for color and not be seen by the colorist. the receptionist was lazy, uninformed or has her own racial attitude which is entirely personal. however, employees are agents for their employers and the company is liable for an employees actions and words.
