NCAA Bungles Ohio State Ruling Along With Entirety of 2010's Rulings {Fanhouse NCAA Football Blog}
Jan 1st 2011 9:51AM Boy Oh Boy, doesn't the writer just love to rail against Ohio State? First, I think it could be said that the players have a case against the NCAA because they owned those items and therefor there is no misconduct in selling them for the reasons they stated. I believe the NCAA is out of line with their punishment and acting like over officious jerks, in the case of Ohio State, while they overlook clearly more egregious acts like Cam Newton. Why is Newton allowed to play for the National Championship then, if what you say has relevance in the Ohio State situation? The Buckeyes were not profiting in a way, nor were their (questionable violations?) consistent with criminal or unethical behavior. I'm amused at the inconsistent manner
in which the NCAA issues out rulings, especially when they attempt to derail
a team just prior tho a bowl game. Yes, Ohio State should be able to play (without the stupid distractions) because the sanctions against them will probably be overturned next year anyway when it is decided that the players actions don't fit the penalty. Why are they allowed to play? Because the NCAA already knows it is out of line with their ruling, that's why. This is nothing more than an attempt to prejudice a particular team unfairly before a bowl game. Watch and see what happens next year. Persoanly, I think they tried to "jam" this supposed violation into the statute solely for the reasons I've stated. The Ohio State players MIGHT have made a mistake (although it's a blurry one at best), but shame on the NCAA for sitting on this until right before a bowl game. Sounds like more politics to me!

Sep 6th 2010 8:16PM The whole moral of the picture is that "there's no place like home." The "dream" is an illustration of our lives and how in our culture we chase dreams and that no matter how colorful or intoxicating some of that might be, in the end there is no place like home. You might say, Never overlook what is near while serching for that which is far. It's great to achieve dreams, after all that's what freedom affords, but isn't it nice to have a "home" to come back home to? Illustration, The Prodigal son.

Sep 3rd 2010 10:14AM Please remember when you say that God is Love, that is true as demonstrated by the gift of His only son Jesus who sacrificed Himself for us. Some would like you to believe that Jesus was a community organizer in order to justify their political agenda. Jesus told us to love one another because he knew that if everyone was left to their own opinion, there would be chaos. And so it is. Jesus was NOT a community organizer. He told the truth about Himself and, as a result, He completely divided the community and they hung Him on a cross for it. So, if you really want to be like Jesus, be prepared.

Sep 3rd 2010 10:04AM So, God didn't create the universe according to Mr. Hawking? Who did..........Ralph???? And I suppose that
Ralph created God. Burt then we're right back where we started. A circle within a circle, a wheel within a wheel. Who created Ralph?

Sep 3rd 2010 9:57AM Someone wrote and said that they thought people who believed in God were rather childlike. As if to say that was
an insult somehow? God said to "come as a little child" so we wouldn't be corrupted by our intellect or our prejudice.
You have to "give up" in order to receive, Get it? Smart folks who think they know better will have difficulty with this truth. Wise people who obey God will not have a problem.

Sep 3rd 2010 9:34AM With regard to the statement about God giving us this Land. George Washington and the founding fathers had a very close and respectful relationship with the Indians. President Washington saw the value in working with the original owners and it wasn't until later (after they were all gone) that big government decided to unfairly define the Indians as savages in order to acquire power and justify stealing their land. The original cooperation between the Indians and the settlers was one of respect and reverence to God. The bitterness ensued when corrupt government leaders later turned away from God and the principles set forth originally with the Indian population.
This still was a land understood by all to be a gift from the Creator God and that all his people (including the Indians) were an equal treasure of His making. George Washington said so. They were Christians, not deists as some like to falsely report. These "history changers" would keep the truth about America in order to paint this country as somehow unforgiven for it's sins. It's not necessary to call me names. I agree with you as far as addressing Americas flaws. I just don't think it's productive to slander our nation. That would be as great an injustice as only focusing on the flaws and overlooking the good and our efforts to correct the problems. Think positively. Forgiveness is a wonderful thing!

Sep 3rd 2010 9:11AM This is not Star Treck folks. That's a Sci Fi fantasy. God created this very special place called earth for a reason. You are His special creation and He wants you to get over your extreme resistance and difficulty with saying "Thank You" to Him. You want real freedom and liberation from the slavery of your own mind. Just say "Thank You" to God and He'll open your eyes and your heart and free you. He said, "Do not think too highly of yourselves, but give thanks to the One who loves you and is able to do all things." That's not us folks. The One
is not us. This earth, this home we call America was given to us as a treasure, not to be diluted with fantasy or thoughts of life elsewhere. For those who insist on escaping into the far reaches of the universe, I would just say, Don't overlook what is near while searching for that which is far. There are some things we will never know or be able to comprehend from the hand of God. He also said that "He will not give you more than you can bear."
Neither Mr. Hawking's wheelchair or his vast intellect need prohibit him from accepting the saving grace of our
Lord Jesus Christ........unless he turns his back on the gift.

Sep 3rd 2010 8:53AM Believing in God has NOTHING to do with religion. It is not a contest among religions. It is instead a personal relationship with the One who created you. Many folks have trouble with this concept. They are also very self indulgent and think very highly of their own opinion and have little or no interest in what God says. When God created us he designed us to commune with Him (have a close relationship with Him). But from the beginning WE
decided that our opinion about things was more important. That's how we get into so much trouble. God made it simple. He said,Trust in Me.....He didn't just say, Believe in me. He said Trust. That requires obedience. Something that the protesters are not willing to relinquish.
They would rather debate the merits of Diverse opinions
instead of opening their hand and receiving the abundant life promised to us from God. Only arrogance and pride would deny such a free gift as this. Please don't attempt to diminish God's importance by saying that He's a religion. If I'm in need, in trouble and need advice, or I want to be enlightened, my first though is not to call Mr. Hawking. No "filters" for me. I go directly to God!

Sep 3rd 2010 8:34AM Wisdom does not begin with intelligence, it begins with obedience. Man's intellect is often the very thing that make him believe that he is superior to God. You are witnessing it in these comments. The Bible says, "What does it profit a man to gain the whole world, but lose his soul?" Hawking stated that God is irrelevant to physics and YOU said that was pretty fundamental and un controversial. So, we're supposed to just bow down at the alter of that.???......when it's a lie! God created physics for Pete's sake! Those who believe in God (specifically Jesus) are not easily fooled. Nice try though.
