Afghan Air War: More fighting, More Bombs, and Continued Civilian Casualties {Politics Daily}

Does anyone remember Hamburger hILL AND DO WE WANT THESE KIDS TO REALIZE THE SAME RESULTS FROM INDECISION? August, September, October, November, December....any other job, a leader doesn't act, they'd be fired.

Day-Care Worker Pins Kids to Mattresses as Discipline Control {ParentDish}

Nov 13th 2009 7:10AM This isn't a new thing, I've heard of it before, but I've never actually heard of anyone using it. I'd consider it dangerous because the pin's could bend in struggle and open and then become a dangerous weapon in the bed. I saw above someone saying that swaddling is used in a group home. That I also consider inhumane. Swaddling is a method used in some places for newborns-for the first few days. That's fine and dandy, but after that a person needs to be able to turn and move about for circulation, and in bed patient cases, prevention of pneumonia, decubiti, blood clots, etc. We used to have the restraint boards for procedures, which is again swaddling and the patients got hot, from the struggle, then went to sleep if it took a while. I hated them, but it was to prevent injury only, then the child was held and cuddled. The only reason swaddling would be a comfort is for the care giver, I feel. to me, it is next to taking duct tape and putting them in a chair. Cruel and sadistic. If it comes to that measure, then the group home has too many people they're caring for. Just an empathetic opinion.

Did Oprah Go Too Far? {Sphere}

Nov 12th 2009 9:02PM Jokes? Are they serious? This woman has gone through incalculabie horros and pain. Think, having to be treated all these months and not seeing what is coming at you, expecting, no hoping that soon her eyes will be saved only to find that it is final. No more sight, no hands to feel objects to carry out senses that let her know what is what while her eyes healed. How can anyone be so callous as to even consider this person the butt of a joke. My she continue to heal in due time, with minimal pain and may her life's burdens ease up a little, so that coping and accepting what has happened will allow her to get on with her life.
God Bless her.

Latest Round-Up of Obama Poll Ratings by State {Politics Daily}

Nov 3rd 2009 6:19PM Well I know of several Michiganders that were not included in these polls. Several in our household do not feel Obama is doing anyting beneficial for this country. Briefly looking at Newsweeks' MSN demagenda's article this morning on the big O and how he's doing on his promises. One that is included is the computerized medical records. How can his people even lay claim to this project which has been going on since, to my knowledge, 1978. I worked inputting the first ever program in San Jose for worldwide access for medical records for the Merchant Marines. I was a temp then and just entered what the programmers had written-my first chance at something kind of big back then. (computers and remarkable things being done with them). While I went to nursing school in the 70's pharmacies were becomming forward thinking getting computerized records going-and they're shared across the globe. As I wandered back to Michigan in the 80's and 90's working offices were already beginning to computerize, but not to the scale of the late 90's as universities including 2 that I worked at worked on standards of care (clinical pathways) and computerized medical records. These records can be shared (with patient consent) with a scary world of medicine -docs can sit at their beach front homes and consult thousands of miles away on a case. Records have also be illegally accessed and well, patients seem to just have to suck the injustices up at this point (or sue) until better security can be placed.

My point is the Obama camp may try to take credit for computerized records, but that is a big lie. Millions of us have worked to get these systems into place over several presidential camps, in an effort for the 'big day' of national healthcare. The problems with it that I see are the computer screen only shows a minute focus on the patient, and complete conditions get lost and erased through time that can really bear weight in the care of the single patient as a whole. So, it's not all good, but with teh billions upon billions of dollars spent over the years to employ everyone working on this one agenda, it is something they'll get through come hell or high water---some decade, anyway.

Caffeinated Tea Party: How Bad? {ParentDish}

Oct 13th 2009 1:58PM I've drank tea ever since I can remember. I never suffered any ill effects from it. My daughters and granddaughters love tea as well. Their favorites are Celestial Seasons Chai - the original caffeinated type (same as mine, other brands just don't do). Lipton tea and Tetley's English Breakfast are great as well. Lady Grey and Earl Grey Teas by Twinings are also good. Sometimes a Gunpowder or Bloomig tea is fine, but only rare. I do not care for the so-called whites and greens and have gotten headaches from them so why drink them. The other tea that only comes out at Christmas is Cleestial Season's Peppermint, which we have to stock up very well. Tea is a great ritual for gathering and enjoying the flavors, the closeness of those moments. It is a great alternative to sodas which also have their place and great juices and coffees. A good beverage compliments a good gathering, conversation, or book reading,,,television, beading session, art session, you name it. Drinking doesn't bother our sleep, activity or conversations. In other words, it is a good thing for us.

Obama and His Enemies: The Once and Constant Opposition {Politics Daily}

Oct 8th 2009 2:34AM This is the first administration that called anyone who differs in opion racist and hopefully the last. If it is not coming from his mouth, it is coming from his movers and shakers, so basically all that every one of us has done over the last 50 or so years has been torn to shreds so as to creat chaos, hatred and a cauldron of spit and spatter so that the real issues at hand are never looked at with a microscope. I will be happy when these 4 years have ended. If he hasn't jetsetted away all of our money by then. Does he think money grows on trees? A,,,acorns.

Woman Compares Forced C-Section to Rape {Lemondrop}

Oct 7th 2009 6:55AM What I see is a woman overweight, which is an added risk, who had placental abruption once, which is dangerous as hell, want to dominate a system. I can understand her predicament and tell her this. She should think of locating to a higher ranked hospital, park in a hotel and have someone at a teaching hospital make the decision. At some point it is not her call, period. They either have to get that baby out or kill it or it suffers brain damage and she could bleed to death. There are all sorts of consequences. But to try and force a small hospital to bend to her rules is absurd. The cost factor is astronomical in these times for c-section. It isn't so much that they can't set up for emergency c-section, that can b done in minutes. It is getting people there to perform one that is the problem and seconds might be all that it takes between dead baby and not. I worked in small hospitals, and university hospitals. Ultimately she doesn't have a say in either if the child is at risk. Vaginal birth after c-section carries with it its own added risk and even in larger hospitals, not everyone will side with her choices either. It is kind of late now, but she could see if anyone would take her on last minute at a larger hospital. No it is not equal to rape. It is what is considered safe practice through years of training and lawsuits. Just my opinion. I wish her luck though and hope that she has a safe and healthy child with whatever birthing method is chosen for her.
