Latest Round-Up of Obama Poll Ratings by State {Politics Daily}
Nov 3rd 2009 6:19PM Well I know of several Michiganders that were not included in these polls. Several in our household do not feel Obama is doing anyting beneficial for this country. Briefly looking at Newsweeks' MSN demagenda's article this morning on the big O and how he's doing on his promises. One that is included is the computerized medical records. How can his people even lay claim to this project which has been going on since, to my knowledge, 1978. I worked inputting the first ever program in San Jose for worldwide access for medical records for the Merchant Marines. I was a temp then and just entered what the programmers had written-my first chance at something kind of big back then. (computers and remarkable things being done with them). While I went to nursing school in the 70's pharmacies were becomming forward thinking getting computerized records going-and they're shared across the globe. As I wandered back to Michigan in the 80's and 90's working offices were already beginning to computerize, but not to the scale of the late 90's as universities including 2 that I worked at worked on standards of care (clinical pathways) and computerized medical records. These records can be shared (with patient consent) with a scary world of medicine -docs can sit at their beach front homes and consult thousands of miles away on a case. Records have also be illegally accessed and well, patients seem to just have to suck the injustices up at this point (or sue) until better security can be placed.
My point is the Obama camp may try to take credit for computerized records, but that is a big lie. Millions of us have worked to get these systems into place over several presidential camps, in an effort for the 'big day' of national healthcare. The problems with it that I see are the computer screen only shows a minute focus on the patient, and complete conditions get lost and erased through time that can really bear weight in the care of the single patient as a whole. So, it's not all good, but with teh billions upon billions of dollars spent over the years to employ everyone working on this one agenda, it is something they'll get through come hell or high water---some decade, anyway.
Caffeinated Tea Party: How Bad? {ParentDish}
Oct 13th 2009 1:58PM I've drank tea ever since I can remember. I never suffered any ill effects from it. My daughters and granddaughters love tea as well. Their favorites are Celestial Seasons Chai - the original caffeinated type (same as mine, other brands just don't do). Lipton tea and Tetley's English Breakfast are great as well. Lady Grey and Earl Grey Teas by Twinings are also good. Sometimes a Gunpowder or Bloomig tea is fine, but only rare. I do not care for the so-called whites and greens and have gotten headaches from them so why drink them. The other tea that only comes out at Christmas is Cleestial Season's Peppermint, which we have to stock up very well. Tea is a great ritual for gathering and enjoying the flavors, the closeness of those moments. It is a great alternative to sodas which also have their place and great juices and coffees. A good beverage compliments a good gathering, conversation, or book reading,,,television, beading session, art session, you name it. Drinking doesn't bother our sleep, activity or conversations. In other words, it is a good thing for us.

Oct 8th 2009 3:19PM What a masterful photo. The color and the camoflage. The serious and the sad. This should be a a poster for sale, or a billboard. Absolutely beautiful, stark, sad. Says more than a thousand words. Well done, mother.
Obama and His Enemies: The Once and Constant Opposition {Politics Daily}
Oct 8th 2009 2:34AM This is the first administration that called anyone who differs in opion racist and hopefully the last. If it is not coming from his mouth, it is coming from his movers and shakers, so basically all that every one of us has done over the last 50 or so years has been torn to shreds so as to creat chaos, hatred and a cauldron of spit and spatter so that the real issues at hand are never looked at with a microscope. I will be happy when these 4 years have ended. If he hasn't jetsetted away all of our money by then. Does he think money grows on trees? A,,,acorns.
Woman Compares Forced C-Section to Rape {Lemondrop}
Oct 7th 2009 6:55AM What I see is a woman overweight, which is an added risk, who had placental abruption once, which is dangerous as hell, want to dominate a system. I can understand her predicament and tell her this. She should think of locating to a higher ranked hospital, park in a hotel and have someone at a teaching hospital make the decision. At some point it is not her call, period. They either have to get that baby out or kill it or it suffers brain damage and she could bleed to death. There are all sorts of consequences. But to try and force a small hospital to bend to her rules is absurd. The cost factor is astronomical in these times for c-section. It isn't so much that they can't set up for emergency c-section, that can b done in minutes. It is getting people there to perform one that is the problem and seconds might be all that it takes between dead baby and not. I worked in small hospitals, and university hospitals. Ultimately she doesn't have a say in either if the child is at risk. Vaginal birth after c-section carries with it its own added risk and even in larger hospitals, not everyone will side with her choices either. It is kind of late now, but she could see if anyone would take her on last minute at a larger hospital. No it is not equal to rape. It is what is considered safe practice through years of training and lawsuits. Just my opinion. I wish her luck though and hope that she has a safe and healthy child with whatever birthing method is chosen for her.

Once famous lottery winner now broke {WalletPop}
Oct 7th 2009 6:32AM Believe it or not $250 a week and a small pension is not living poor' by today's standards. Many people live on much less than that. I know in comparison, perhaps one might consider him so, but there ae many many out there who would be considering that grand a month in spendable income quite sustainable. However, I'd hate to live in Florida with the heat and humidity and try to pay utilities with that amount of money.
And by the way, why call him an idoit people? He's enjoyed his money, and its lasted his 20 years. He's just adopted a smaller space environment like many are doing to be ecofriendly to the planet.
Hot Pics: Celebrity Pictures on the PopScene {Popeater}
Oct 6th 2009 10:47PM I love seeing the Cruise family out keeping up a daily routine. I don't run, but we parked the car for the summer and walked everywhere. It was great, felt wonderful. In bed with a bug for well over a week and perhaps in a day or two will venture out and walk around without spreading to anyone else. Family walks, bikerides, kids skateboards, frisbie golf, anything that gets everyone out of the house is a fantastic thing and a free thing we all love. I'm just being couch potato until I the fever's gone. Miss the family togetherness, of course if I'd not slept with the sick kids, I'd probably be healthier!
Is 'Paranormal Activity' the Next 'Blair Witch Project'? {Inside Movies Blog}
Oct 6th 2009 10:26PM I personally thought that the Blair Witch Project was the worst film to ever hit the box office in years. It as comedy compared to perhaps, Attack of the Killer Tomatos, although that was a far better film. Overly dark, bad lighting with people scaring themselves on camera is not my film. If I see a film, and want to be scared, I want one with a 1. budget. 2. people who can act. 3. suspense. 4. plot 5. moments of sht your pants scary, and the rest secure. Blair Witch was absolutely none of these. Ones that have made me jump and let out a yell or two was a cancelled show Fear Itself. It had the right amount of everything, including some humor, yet knee hugging,biting scariness. It was a shame that they didn't bring it back on. Best of shows for scary in ages on TV. So paranormal, probably I won't see until it's dvd. I lived in a house that had it's 'own character' that was enough paranormal for me.
Next day air package takes 14 years to deliver {WalletPop}
Oct 6th 2009 1:05PM What UPS fais to tell its customers is that if the package is undeiverable (bad address, moved, etc) it sits. It is returned to the shipping site-store that takes your money, where the customer is to be called. If they do not respond, it sits there, little tracking is done. At the store which UPS contracted as a pick up where I worked, there was a wall of unwanted packages. UPS expected the store to deal with them, so after some attempts, the problem is given up. My advise to anyone using any carrier, verify that your package has been received.that Christmas gift or college dorm gift may just be sitting on a shelf.
