Inasmuch as Fay flew the A320 for 8 months, presumeably as Pilot-In-Command (Maybe not), it would be reasonable to assume that he had to undergo training in the Airbus simulator to acquire that proficiency and to be certified in the type.. The transition to side stick controls alone, after flying control yoke aircraft would be quite confusing without training. Although Afriqiyah is a Libyan airline, it undoubtedly would have its own training facilities, or a contract with another airline for its pilot training. nI very much doubt the even Libya would hire a any pilot and just turn him lose in the aircraft.
