Mar 7th 2010 3:09PM ADT is sending people door to door, no cold calls..A man knocked on my door last week just as I had started cooking dinner. When I opened the door, I was offput by the sight of a man holding the ADT sign with the sharp ended metal post at my door. My inner self screamed "weapon", I told him he had passed the no soliciting and he said "I'm not selling anything mame." I said, "then you are tresspassing, you want to wait for the police?, I have you on my monitors as you are on the property without permission." He knew I had him and left, next door he did the same, but the police department drove by, he left our neighborhood.

The morale to the story, door to door sales are making a come back thanks to the do not call list, ADT and other companies are dropping people off by the van loads in areas and leave them up to six hours, to bother people that are at home.

I wasn't bothered by him, he just didn't know the first house in this subdivision is owned by a gun happy tech savy house wife with time to mess with sales people.

Maybe they have a "jitterbug" for emergancies only. So they arn't even able to read this article, they would also be the ones who had to buy a cable convertor box when the singnal was turned off. This is my Grandparents, some of your Grandparents and there neighbors. If you have ever been to the store a sweet little old lady has a check book open and hand writing a check, this sweet little old lady is checking her mail box on Saturday for mail. We need to tell them them very nice as they will think we are all out of our minds at the mention of such a thing.

Feb 18th 2010 10:51AM Another way they can get you like they got me...Phone Books...They had my name address and phone number....printed up checks and went to work, it came to an end when a computer store called me to OK my husband to write a 6 grand check, I told them my husband was at work and to call police, they did, that night I saw it on the news, later that week I had to go to the Secret Service and prove who I was and look at the fake checks all numbered 2222.They had a big ring going on, I was told they are called gypsy thives and stay in a town for awhile then move to a new state, and do it to others all over again.

Jan 28th 2010 4:24PM Now that our TV screen displays numbers ,the area code and prefix number is what I look for. If its no one I know, I don't even have to answer. I am always the winner of a free cruise that calls from Washinton DC.And sorry but most of the calls that come from people that I can't understand because of the accent, I ask them to repeat the same thing over and over til yes they get annoyed. I started talking about my grandson to one and wouldn't let him jump in for so long he hung up on me. I'm lucky enough to not have to work and am home alot, so yes I get some payback for the calls that came when I wasn't wanting them over the years.
