It's Time for Kobe Bryant to Top LeBron {Fanhouse NBA Blog}
May 30th 2010 9:52PM Lebron is not cerebral and it will take at least until the 2012 season for him to even make it to the conference finals. Durant may win the scoring title, but, he is more like Penny Hardaway as a player than a Kobe, or even a LeBron.
Video: Sasha Vujacic's Flagrant Foul on Goran Dragic {Fanhouse NBA Blog}
May 30th 2010 9:44PM Sasha will be looking for a job this summer - not just for this one foul, but, for being injury-ridden and a non-factor in the play-offs.
Ron Artest's Great Odyssey to the Finals {Fanhouse NBA Blog}
May 30th 2010 9:39PM If you can command $33 million over 5 years and believe that you are going to take this paltry sum (by NBA standards)just to win a ring, I would love for you to brag about how you are better than Artest.
Ron Artest's Great Odyssey to the Finals {Fanhouse NBA Blog}
May 30th 2010 9:35PM This would be a story book ending if the Lakers win it all. I am rooting for Artest more than for any other player.

Offering Up a 'Zona Defense {Fanhouse MLB Blog}
May 7th 2010 3:03PM The writer is apparently a white man living in a lily white neighborhood who thinks that cops do not customarily - and more often than not - tail a non-white driver and run his or her tags even without reasonable cause. All this even before the driver is pulled over.
The people of our great country who do NOT support this bill are NOT for illegal immigration. They are against the exclusive intent of the bill to indiscriminately pull over anyone on a subjective assessment of 'reasonable suspicion'. It is the subjective part that is troubling in that law enforcement even with their training of how to profile brown skinned people, will be the sole adjudicator of the law.
Having visited AZ with my then white wife in 1991, I was also subject to a level of profiling in a restaurant where white customers were served before us, even though we were seated much before these guests. Our order was similar to the ones brought to these later customers. As a non-white man, I summarily glossed over this until my wife brought this disparity to my attention.
Asinine statements made by the writer suggest to most of us non-whites that some of you still do not get it. Think back to the apartheid legislation of the 1960s when Blacks were segregated even though they were citizens. It is exactly this kind of legislation we oppose - that it is exclusively directed at anyone who is not White.
Finally, sensationalizing the threat undocumented workers pose on our citizens may be more about condoning prejudice than addressing a more viable solution. That AZ sought to pursue this law purely on partisan lines is a microcosm of the Party of NO in Washington. Would both the US and Mexico not be better served if we worked jointly to arrive at some alternative where work permits would address the deficient labor pool in both countries?
The Half-Marathon of Doom {Fanhouse Backporch}
May 2nd 2010 10:21PM
I found the essay hilarious. The writer must really love his wife.
Jogging and weight training have been my refuge since I was 15 (47 now). I admit it is not for everyone. However, there is something to be said about the therapeutic value that exercise provides. I experience the 'runners high' and love the feeling of my abdominals tugging when I hit my stride. Street jogging is exhilarating for me because of the scenery and the scenic goals one can set along one's route.
At 47, I still brag a 6% body fat reading.

Rules Violation Costs Michelle Wie $90K {Fanhouse Backporch}
Mar 30th 2010 8:04PM Much ado about nothing and gestapo officials who cannot see past the stringent requirements.
I do not care for Wie, but, this is just plain ridiculous and NO! Wie cannot save women's golf. However, what might help would be if the LPGA did not make rules like making English mandatory for players because the reasoning was that most advertisers wanted players to respond in English. Tell that to the South Korean and Japanese companies.
NFL Owners Should Sack OT Proposal {Fanhouse NFL Blog}
Mar 22nd 2010 7:17PM If anyone confused an ardent NFL fan, it was the writer. Sure! Scenarios can be presented that undermines the 'fair is fair' rule, but, I believe what the owners are trying to do in the playoffs, is to level the field and not rely on the luck of the coin toss to predicate who is going to win.
From a purely statistical standpoint, unless one looks at results from a population sample of 30 or more games per category, the results are statistically insignificant. To suggest that half the games from 1974 to 1973 were won by the team winning the toss, does not abide by basic statistical modeling.
Two possessions, one for each side, and the side with 6 points or more at the end wins. Now we can change that to 5 points or more to allow for a safety and a field goal, but the score difference should be more than just the opportunistic field goal.
