Farewell to Bush {Politics Daily}

Jan 19th 2009 2:57PM Dear Mr. President,

I just wanted to offer my sincere appreciation and thanks for your service as our forty-third President of this great land. The last eight years have been a treacherous period in our nation's history; but I believe you have handled them admirably. Mr. President, I do not know you personally, only through the media's words (from RUSH to the NYTIMES and everything in between) have I been able to get a sense of your personality. My conclusion sir is that you are someone with whom I'd like to pair with to announce a baseball game. (Perhaps one year when my GIANTS beat you’re RANGERS in the WORLD SERIES!!) I think it would be a lot of fun.

While my opinion on the State of the Union is not the intent of this note, I do wish things could have been different for your time in office. When you ran in 2000, for the first time in my adult life, I felt as though the freedoms set down by our forefathers and granted to us by the Almighty would come to fruition. I'm talking about the gradual erosion of regulation and taxation; and the expansion of personal liberties. As all of us feel, I truly wish that 9/11 could have been 2/29 in a non-leap year…and never happened! Having said that I understand the Patriot Act and appreciate your efforts at keeping my family and I safe. In accordance with that I recognize your success in carrying out your prime duty of protecting all of us.

Mr. President, there is not one segment of our society which is not controlled in some fashion by our government. Obviously there has to be laws, but so many? You know, I think Moses did a fairly decent job with just ten! One of the most idiotic has to be hate crime legislation. I mean what crime is committed without some kind of hate in the heart of a given criminal. My apologies as I digress. My impression of any government however, is primarily as an employment agency. While many members of the civil service are valued and important, how many are completely unnecessary? (And I don’t mean the military.) My guestimate would place the percentage at somewhere in the sixties or seventies.

I believe that the biggest problem we face as a society is an absence of moral fortitude in too many of us. Through your eight years, I believe that with grace, dignity and a self-effacing sense of humor you showed righteousness that for us who were watching appreciate; and for those with the blinders on, it is my hope that someday history will reveal.

In closing, I offer prayer that your successor has the wisdom to govern further to the right than his campaign rhetoric and previous legislative experience have reflected; and providence guides his actions. I believe he will. He went through the tryouts, made the team and now it's game time! Reality is upon him; and for heavens sake I hope and pray he doesn't capitulate to Reid, Pelosi, Schumer, Frank et al.

My hope for you is that you stay active for conservative causes while pushing an agenda reminiscent of your 2000 campaign. While there are many voices up and coming to rally for the beliefs we hold dearly, I don't think there are many as well heard as that of an ex-president, especially one such as you. Regardless of the nature of your retirement I hope it is meaningful, relaxing and full of continuing good cheer.

God bless you, your family, and our nation. And thanks again for your service.

Dec 16th 2008 4:20PM Jay not only are you an idiot but worse you are a traitor to the Ameerican people. It's jackasses like yourself who kept us from victory in Vietnam and led to the Slaughter of 3,000,000 people in southeast Asia afte we left. You truly have no clue. History will show what I already know..Bush and Cheney were right! As for you...you are wrong!
