Vet's Widow and Son Receive Gift of a Lifetime {AOL Real Estate}

Dec 20th 2011 8:06AM For those of you in disagreement about the man's life insurance....I did a little searching and found out that Scott died on November 20th at home. He was injured while on duty back in 2006. So it appears that he's been home for around 5 years give or take?? From what I read on a website about SGLI, disabled discharged vets can extend their insurance up to 2 years. So am I correct to assume that IF he had the insurance, that it probably ran out by now? Could that be why they were in financial trouble? It sounded like he's been sick since the injury so he probably wasn't in any shape to work, thus the reason they were living with her parents.

Drunken Baby Photos? Not So Funny {ParentDish}

Jul 16th 2010 10:50AM I think most of the posters here are not understanding the point of the writer of the article. No where does she insinuate that these children are actually drunk. Of course they are just pictures of them either sleepy or what ever. Anyone with a pulse knows that these kids aren't really eating the chocolates or drinking. It's the way that the company is promoting their alcoholic product by using children in the ad. It's not funny because children and alcohol don't go together and for a company to do this especially in a world where so many underage people drink isn't the brightest choice. It's not THAT bad though compared to if it was a company promoting whiskey alone, that would be worse. So the moral of the story here is that most people think it is okay to show this ad because we all know the babies aren't drunk? What if little babies were posed in provactive clothing holding cigarettes? We all know that it isn't real but the question is....is it right?

'I'm Bisexual,' Vanessa Carlton Tells Crowd of 18,000 {PopEater}

Jun 21st 2010 1:03PM So for those of you that say being gay is a choice, let me ask this. If it is a choice then being heterosexual is a choice as well??? What you are saying is that the human is born with both ways to go and as kids or teens or adults the male is faced with both males and females and he opts to go toward the female? I am confused.For me as a female it was natural to be attracted to males. I don't know how you can say it's a choice because what kind of hetero male would choose to go after guys if all males are naturally hetero?? The bible are writings of man, how does any of us know what God really wants until we meet Him? I think he just wants us to love one another and the gay hating just makes a person worse than a person who is gay.Maybe God put gays on this earth to test us as people? I am not a fan of homeosexuality but can't hate on it because that goes against anything Godly.

Family of Murdered California Girl Speaks Out {ParentDish}

Jun 15th 2010 4:49PM I totally agree. My son is that age now and I let him go around a little but I keep a very close eye on him. This girl was going over to a friends I believe then came back and that was when she vanished. That was 3:45 and her mom didn't call 911 until 4 hours later. I know there was probably some time spent looking for her but that long without checking or knowing where your 8 yr old is? Plus if adults were or are home I don't see how hard it is to go pick up your child from a neighbors.

Raquel Welch, Reluctant Sex Symbol,Talks About Making Amends With Her Kids {ParentDish}

May 12th 2010 9:25PM Wow. SO once a person is out of the spotlight they don't matter anymore? How does a human being become irrelevant? That is the most ignorant thing I have ever heard. The older generation has ALL the right to speak, they have lived thru all of the things we have not yet. I guess I never knew that a person or their lives or their opinions become irrelevant after a certain period. I thought we all mattered, all of the time.

Opinion: Sure, the Dog Video is Cute, But ... {ParentDish}

Jan 16th 2010 11:47AM Heather, I agree. I have met some mastiffs and their size is intimidating but they really are gentle giants. It's not the size that matters. But letting a dog that weighs over 100 pounds walk OVER a baby like that? What if the mom sneezed or the doorbell rang and the dog jumped and landed on the child? That is a lot of weight on a toddler. It probably wouldn't kill him but why put him in that situation? As long as I can remember I have read stories about the sweetest nicest dogs that have seriously harmed a child. I don't care how well you know the breed or the dog itself how can you a human ever predict how an animal will react? It's impossible, 100% impossible. Kkjkljd

Jan 16th 2010 11:40AM ruthieb, I understand your very well put post. Except for the part about the Yorkies, which I love, and they are not rats. Plus anyone who would ever say they'd like to kill a dog is just not right either. That being said, any children around any dogs can't be trusted. I have a very docile beagle and when kids come over I warn them to keep at a distance because I know he could turn. WHy??? Because he's an animal, as is every dog, No matter how sweet natured they are, there is always always that one time they could snap. No one here can say that it is wrong to be worried, dogs are dogs are dogs etc. They don't think and act like us. Just because we know them doesn't mean they will not turn on us. Why risk that? I am not saying that every dog should be treated this way, but just that you never know. Even the professionals say not to assume a dog would never bite. But I guess to each his own, you are the parent and if your child does happen to be maimed or killed or slightly harmed, you(that's a general you) have to deal with it.

Opinion: Sure, the Dog Video is Cute, But ... {ParentDish}

Jan 16th 2010 11:30AM I am a total complete dog lover. I also know that there are dogs that are sweethearts that don't hurt a fly their entire life. BUT, like others have said, they are animals. End of story. They can snap at any moment without notice. I didn't think the video would be that disturbing because a lot of people said it was fine. But I was nervous. How is that lady finding humor in a huge 100+ pound dog walking right over a tiny baby? He may be sweet but his face came right in front of the baby's. One slight moment of being startled or what ever, that dog could have bitten his face and the mom being right there isn't close enough. I know she loves her dog, but finding it funny that it's nudging and pushing him around is terrible. Plus the house is a dump and I am sure that dog adds to the mess. I hope that the boy never gets harmed but as a parent who loves dogs I was nervous watching this. I just love my kids a bit more than my pets and would never knowingly put them in harms way. Plus as this boy gets older I hope he doesn't think that it's okay to go up to dogs without hesitation.

Story About Jesus Drawing Reportedly Exaggerated {ParentDish}

Dec 17th 2009 9:46AM Settle down people. If you look at most of the comments by the people who didn't seem to read the article, they are comments made on the 15th. Which was the day the original version of the story came out. I believe these are comments made before this article was printed. The date at the top says 12-16 and most of the strange comments are from the 15th. Why I dont know.
