Small Town Coach, Big-Time Hero {Fanhouse Main}

Sep 2nd 2009 2:15PM OMG what a story. As I sit here crying I look back 40 years to my high school years and remember those few teachers that really taught me something, not just how to add, but how to be a better person, friend, employer or employee. Those few who can do this are so important to our children that it's not funny. My son is in high school. He started his Junior year this year and he has yet to meet one of those. It seems to me now that teachers just show up to get their pay checks sometimes. I commplained for 2 years before I finally got the school system to listen to me about how my son was not learning as he should. And how frustrated he was. Finally they listen and then we have to move him as he went on to High School. Now I'm back at it. I wish he felt the wonder that I did when I got a school book, how I loved to read it and get a head just for fun. No one makes school interesting it seems. For those teachers out there, worry about the ones you lose. The one young man (or young woman) you could have reached on a level only you could. When you find that one child, help them to be all they can be please.

McCartney Says Lennon's Remarks About Beatles Were Fueled by Drugs {Spinner}

Aug 27th 2009 6:51PM Look, I was a total Beatle Lover and I'm absolutely positive that Paul is correct. Having done some of the same drugs during the same years that the Beatles were alive and well, drugs made me say things I truly didn't mean. They were an amazing group and no one can ever compare to them. I was blessed to have been to two concerts of theirs and the memories are still wonderful!

Evan Rachel Wood - A Lesbian Vampire? {Popeater}

Aug 27th 2009 5:10PM I didn't even know the series was from a book series! Now I have to go get the books. I adore the series. Love everything about it. I cried even when Godric died, how silly is that??!! But it's one of the best on HBO, and we (my son and I) are big HBO viewers since we have 4 HBO stations where we live!

Fiji Water: So cool, so fresh, so bad for the environment? {Daily Finance}

Aug 25th 2009 2:41PM I expected to see another tirade of angry conservatives finding another rallying point against our President. Wow, didn't see it!!! I am outraged however to hear what's going on with a water I frequently purchase. My family has visited the Fiji Islands and thoroughly enjoyed the people of Fiji. I love bottled water, where I live you can't possibly drink the tap water. It's the worst possible water you can ever try. I've never in my life seen a city where NO ONE drinks the tap water. Even my own mother who thinks bottled water is ridiculous couldn't drink our water when she visited. I won't be drinking Fiji any longer but that's ok.. I really liked the bottle too LOL.

TSA claims Disney souvenirs equal weapons - takes toys from an 8 year old {Gadling}

Jul 30th 2009 7:58PM Truthfully I'm shocked Disney did this. But then I've been hearing they may be changing their attitude. When I ran a hotel right next to Disneyland they had the opinion everyone else needed THEM, they needed no one. Every other theme park in Southern CA gave discounts to hotel staffers. Some gave you a free ride in - or if you referred several people to their park they would give you a number of free passes. I'm not saying we didn't do well "because" of Disneyland, but truthfully they were simply part of why most people come to that area. Disneyland basically was "it" (OR SO THEY FELT) and no one else counted. But I think with the financial problems all of us are having they must be having them too. After all it costs (if I'm not mistaken) over $50 for one adult!!!

Nebraska Dad Who Abandoned Nine Children is Expecting Twins {ParentDish}

Jul 1st 2009 3:54PM Sorry but if he abandoned his other children how can anyone expect him not to do it to the new children. If not abandon the mother and leave her with 2 babies to take care of?? You know I've about had it with people having babies and not wanting to take care of them. I had to have a hysterectomy at the age of 21. I "had" to because of 2 doctor's mistake! I was devastated and wanted a child of my own. Well I was blessed to be able to adopt at birth a child. It's time for parents to either take responsibility of their children of allow someone else who desperately wants a child to take care of them. I do agree with new borns being able to be given up with nothing happening to the birth mother. But older children shouldn't happen. I think we're raising a crop of young adults who don't know what responsibility is. If you're old enough to have a baby you should be old enough to make a responsible decision - BOTH the father and the mother!!! IF you can't. Then make sure you can't get pregnant.

Ann Coulter on O'Reilly: Tiller Murder a 'Termination' {Politics Daily}

Jun 25th 2009 5:41AM I always find this woman to be offensive. I used to think of her as pathetic, now she's out of control. I'm a Right to Choose woman, have been since I took a friend in the 1960's to get a "back room" abortion. I was very pro-life at the time. However the barbaric circumstances she went through changed my mind forever more. My son (who is adopted) has a bio mom who had 6 abortions prior t o having my son. Now that I do have a tendency to disagree with! But Ms. Coulter says whatever springs into her mind. I've finally decided that she enjoys the limelight and says things that are so out of bound just to get attention. You know what they say about a willful child, ignore their behavior don't give in to it. I say put her on ignore, that would make her insane.

Conservatives Attack Fox's Shep Smith {Politics Daily}

Jun 14th 2009 9:14PM Ok, I knew there was a reason I liked this announcer. I used to watch Fox news. Then they turned SO "right wing" that I couldn't handle watching the station take truths and turn them upside down for "their" purposes. They "spin" everything and make something out of nothing and it gets tiring. I was flipping through the channels and started watching Mr. Smith's show and thought YES!!! Fox is actually going back to really reporting the news. Then I watched Glen Beck later. WRONG!!! They're still so ultra "right wing" that they have forgotten how the truth is such an important ideal that some of us still enjoy!!!

David Letterman and Sarah Palin Feud Grows {Politics Daily}

Jun 10th 2009 10:06PM Look, she's a public figure. IF she wants to continue she needs to get a bit of a stronger back bone. Yea I want to vote for someone for president who gets upset at something someone on TV says about them. My stars what if a person from another country said s omething bad does that constitue all out war? Grow up Governor Palin.

Boy Becomes Father at 13 - "I Thought It Would Be Good to Have a Baby" {ParentDish}

Feb 13th 2009 5:51PM Of course we are all going to judge. If the country weighed in on the woman who had all the babies one would hope we care enough about our children to be outraged that babies are having babies. I still want to know where are the parents, grandparents or anyone who can help these kids? And folks is that the way it should go? Of course who else (besides the state, i.e., you and I) is going to help them. But so many kids that get pregnant just "know" their mother is going to raise the child. IF a child has a baby should they be "required" to raise that same child? What do you all feel about this?
