Best Ballpark Food in America {Gadling}

Aug 31st 2007 5:45PM Want to have a homey, old fashioned ball park experience? Try Curves double A ball team and ballpark in Altoona. I absolutely love the place. Everything, food, tickets, parking cost 1/3 to 1/2 of what it does at the Major league parks. The stadium is very modern. The food is as good or better than what you would get at a major league park. I live 30 minutes from PNC park in Pittsburgh and two hours from Altoona. I mostly go to Altoona and watch the Curves play. Oh, if you ever do go, plan on stopping at the adorable little amusement park right nextdoor to the ball park. The whole experience is very down home.

Ten reasons not to have kids {ParentDish}

Aug 27th 2007 3:43PM It is time that the truth comes out. I would say that at least 51% of the people who have kids are miserable. It is not that most people don't love their kids it is that they do not like their kids. Children interfer with your ability to be you and to meet your own needs. I totally support anyone who decides to opt out of parenthood because parenthood is for grown ups. Guess what, you wouldn't believe it after what I just said but I have children. They are responsible adults and have been for sometime. I was not a happy person till they were out on their own. At that point I could finally relax and start to be my own person. When I was a young baby boomer I was told that being old was the worst thing that can happen to a person. Turns out that being young parent tied down with children was the worst thing that happened to me. Being sixty and being footloose and fancy free is the best time of life. Oh, about grandchildren, they are not a problem at all, totally a party there.

Risking Life on Ice {AOL Hot Searches}

Aug 21st 2007 6:56AM I am one of the people that is hooked on this show. Have a few questions. Why did TJ have to pay for his own medical care when he was hurt on job. I would think Canada with it's socialist leanings would have workmen's comp laws. Also, why isn't someone doing somesort of inspections on those trucks every few days to see if they are safe for truckers? How can people like Hugh force their employees to drive trucks without heat in 40 below temps? Lastly, when owners do fail to maintain trucks and accidents happen, why are drivers instead of owners punished?

Are you a supertaster or a nontaster? Your taste buds can affect your health. {That's Fit}

Dec 3rd 2006 2:53PM Your discription of supertaster fits me to a "T". Child of an alcoholic, tasted father's booze early on and recoiled from the bitterness. No chance of me becomming alcoholic, most alcohol taste to horrible to me. Wines too vinegary, beer too bitter, whisky to acid. I have been known to say, "only alcohol I can tolerate is a mixed drink that taste like candy". Had to teach myself to eat veggies for health benefits, they also taste bitter. Reaching age 60 was a blessing due to fact that taste buds dull a bit for everyone at that age. For a supertaster it means you can finally eat some Mexican food. PS my alcoholic father was probably a non taster, always dumping hot sauce and salt on things trying to taste something, anything. He would eat jars of pickled food because he could taste it. God rest his soul. PPS they should do a study about genetic relationships to taste and smoking. I will say in advance if you are a nontaster smoking will make it worse.

AMA wants salt warnings {Slashfood}

Jun 20th 2006 6:44PM I personally am salt sensitive and watch my intake carefully. If I don't watch my BP spirals out of control. However, I think there is mounting evidence that salt sensitivity is genetic and not everyone has this problem. It is probably better to educate persons who are genetically predisposed like myself than to make across the board recommendations. I think the goverment will be percieved as being big brotherish it it trys to reduce everyone's salt intake and will fail. At the moment we are not even sure if cutting salt intake might be harmful to some persons. Remember the cholesterol cutting frenzie of 20 years ago when no one knew about transfats. Everyone was eating margarine that was worse for them than butter because scientific data on fat and cholesterol was incomplete. Please don't make that mistake again. What if you do cut everyones salt intake across the board and then find out, "Whoops, we have a big increase in goiters". All I am saying is, "go carefully".
