Americans Drink a Billion Dollars of Natty Light a Year -- Are You Proud? {Asylum}

Nov 16th 2010 1:44PM It's only indicative of a ton of college students who have fake IDs and little to no money. College was the only time I've ever seen people drink the stuff.

A Woman's Perspective on Dr. House {Asylum}

Aug 24th 2010 8:39PM Um...so I'm replying to myself because it cut off part of my comment. I said "Yay! I too love House."

Will Circuit City disappear? {BloggingStocks}

Jan 10th 2009 10:52PM Your Best Buy and Circuit City ads some of you are getting must be very different from the ones I receive in my Sunday paper. They are always extremely competitive in their pricing, and my weekly routine is to grab two ads out of the Sunday paper - Best Buy and Circuit City and browse to see what great deals they have that week. Often, I'll find myself traveling to both stores to pick up the latest deals. True, both stores have room for improvement, but they are both excellent resources when it comes to finding reasonably priced electronics. I will be very sad if Circuit City is forced to liquidate because it will likely mean higher prices at Best Buy on the electronics we all want.

Arranged Marriage: Better than the Bar Scene? {Lemondrop}

Nov 19th 2008 12:31AM Arranged marriages require a mentality that is different from what those of us with a Western mindset maintain. In the West, we have a tendency to think that we have to be madly in love with the person we marry in addition to all the more practical qualities that make people desirable for an arranged marriage. I am a romantic as much as the next girl, but at 26, I have already come to realize that you don't necessarily have to be madly in love with someone to have a healthy marriage. The "madly in love" stage fades over time, so there better be something more that is keeping you there. I don't envy the couples who are getting married that can't keep their hands off each other, I envy the couples who are getting married that are the best of friends. The lust and ooey-gooey "in love" feelings fade. Friendship and common ways of thinking are what is important.

Just Say Maybe: The Stranglers {Spinner}

Nov 2nd 2008 9:40PM So because they use a harpsichord, they're on drugs? Maybe they just wanted a different sound. Geez this list is lame.

Just Say Maybe: The La's {Spinner}

Nov 2nd 2008 9:38PM Sixpence None the Richer is a Christian group, so I very seriously doubt they would have covered a song about heroin use. The people who used the song for the birth control probably just liked the song. Sometimes, a song is just a song. It's not always about a deeper meaning.

Just Say Maybe: The Rolling Stones {Spinner}

Nov 2nd 2008 9:35PM Was it called a "Jumpin' Jack Flash" to inject heroin into your tear ducts before or AFTER the song was released? My guess would be that the term started AFTER the song. I'm also pretty sure that not everything Keith Richards has written was about drugs.

Bad Songs by Good Bands: No. 1 {Spinner}

Oct 23rd 2008 4:49AM So apparently according to the staff at Spinner, a "bad" song by a good band is a popular song by a good band.
NOTE TO THE STAFF AT SPINNER: Believe it or not, sometimes popular music is actually GOOD. I know you pretentious music zine people tend to think that a "good" song has to be obscure or by some indie band that no one has heard of (or ever will hear of), but that's not always the case.

And as far as some of the comments, the reason why some bands didn't appear on here even though they have significantly worse songs is because the criteria was that it had to be a bad song by an otherwise GOOD band. If you think the band AND their songs suck, that's exactly why you didn't see them on the list. This would be the reason that Billy Corgan's band Zwan wasn't mentioned - they were bad. As a bad band, bad songs are expected.

Cupcake backlash {Slashfood}

Sep 8th 2008 1:37AM It's a freaking cupcake. Get over yourselves. Why do people fetishize food? When did a fancy cupcake become a status symbol? I like cupcakes because they taste good. I'm pretty sure that's the only thing that matters. I'm not going to hang a cupcake on a wall as decoration or take pictures of it and hang it on my wall. It's just food. Do you think people who are starving in Ethiopia would really care if the cupcake someone gave them was from Magnolia Bakery? I'm pretty certain they wouldn't care and would gladly eat whatever you gave them. It's a freaking cupcake people! Where are our priorities in this country???
