It's just that clowns have a way of taking the most innocent comment, and just because it's coming out the mouth of a guy with crack-whore makeup on, make everything sound sinister. Clarabelle was the mute clown on Howdy Doody. Never said one thing. That is, until the last show. Then he turns to the camera - kids across America leaning close to their screens - and he finally hoarsely croaks out, "Goodbye, kids." It that didn't make 100,000 kids simultaneously shit their pants, I don't know what would.
