The Phelphs family are nothing but vile, hate-filled creatures who constantly endeavor to inflict misery on others. These obsessed sickos produce nothing of value, except their own weird sideshow. As with several well-known "holier-than-thou" evangelists -- including Jimmy Swaggart -- the skeletons will eventually tumble out of their own closets ... and then won't we have some juicy stories!

So-called pundits, always in search of a headline, insist on giving the worst possible interpretation and impugning the worst possible motives to anyone who makes a remark that can possibly be given a negative spin. Clearly, Mr. Matthews was lauding the fact that we've gotten closer to achieving Dr. King's dream that every man will be judged by the content of his character, not the color of his skin. He was simply saying he had the same type of "color blindness" that was Dr. King's dream. There is nothing in Mr. Matthews' portfolio of comments or writings that show him to be a racist. Others chose to convolute his remarks for their own reasons. ###

Jan 14th 2010 11:34AM What constitutes "hate speech" cannot be judged by hard-to-discern private motives, but by the ability of those words to inspire among viewers or listeners hatred for a particular group of people.

Robertson is an out-of-control fanatic, and even worse, a delusional psychopath. Anyone else expressing his lunatic vision of life would be considered totally out of touch with reality and be placed in a mental institution. Worse yet, his audience consists of the ignorant, uneducated and superstitious, who are primed to strike out in anger.

His broadcast network should be cited by the FCC for hate speech and heavily fined. What motivates Robertson is not important, what is important is the potential impact of his cruel words.

Bottom line: The question posed -- how low can it go? -- is never answered.
No attempt is even made by experts to crystal-ball a reasonable answer.
Another waste-of-time financial article, apparently written by amateurs.
