May 9th 2010 7:13PM SNL has been weak for the last few years, but "going downhill since 1975" is a pretty silly statement. The 90's in particular was probably the show's peak. The original cast was groundbreaking and influential, but the Carvey/Myers/Hartman/Sandler/Spade eras were probably the most funny.

This is a way more complicated issue than you realize. Right or wrong, the success and finances of a number of industries now depend on the availability of illegals. If you were living in utter poverty with no healthcare for your children, you would do what was necessary to improve the situation. Hating THEM serves nothing. A number of processes need to be addressed, and that includes the stranglehold that American unions have on our industries.

Jun 25th 2008 6:14PM It's in fashion to call anti-downloading bands like Metallica "greedy". However, I honestly don't know how young bands succeed without the revenue from recorded music. Touring, especially for an unestablished band, is not going to cut it financially. Of course established bands can give away their music for free. They can also charge $100 for a ticket to their shows. Downloading and file sharing has upset the industry and has thrown the system out of whack. Personally I think Gene Simmons is an idiot, but he's on the mark with this one.

Jan 8th 2008 5:51PM It was a dumb comment, but I know I have used the word "lynch" in sentences before...like "I know I am going to get lynched for this" (as I probably will for this post). I do not believe for a second that this broadcaster was thinking in racial terms when she used the word. This is not the same as Imus, Michael Richards, or the anti-semitic "gassed" scenario someone brought up earlier. It is indeed possible to use the word "lynched" in a non-racial context. I agree, however, that it's a dumb thing to do. She should not be fired.
