Apr 13th 2010 3:45PM I was "BEATEN" by my father with a belt. If that is spanking great. The interesting thing is that it was my mother who encouraged the spanking. It was her way of keeping me under her thumb.
The only thing I learned was that I would NEVER lay a hand on my children. I did once, when my son ran across the street. I smacked his bottom once. He never ran across the street again.
There are many ways to discipline a child. Beating them or "spanking" them is archaic.

Jay Leno is fine - but every night gets a bit tedious - so do Conan and Letterman. At least Jon Daily and Stephen Colbert spice things up with controversial bits and even great guests who have a semblance of intelligence
