Waitress Fired for Foregoing Makeup {Lemondrop}

May 22nd 2009 9:14PM As a customer, I would not care if my server had on makeup or not. I would care, however, if facial hair (any hair, actually), a face piercing article, fake nails, etc. fell into my food. As long as she has her hair secured, let her do her job. A happy server means a better tip from me (and repeat business).

Have It Your Way - Parents Pick Skin and Eye Color {Blackvoices Main}

Feb 19th 2009 8:22PM The only way I would see a benefit to this would be in the case of a genetic disorder - one that would be of fatal circumstances or devestating to the family & the child. I am the parent of an autistic child, so I know the struggles of a challenge in the beginning - but as he approaches adulthood, it isnt so bad after all. Just different than a normal teen. I dont have to worry about cell phone bills, his peers, 3 AM phone calls, when he will be home, late night driving, etc. I have a 'normal' child, too, that has grown up & left the house so I've been through it.
On the other hand - my autistic child has beautiful thick wavy auburn hair, hazel eyes, thick lips, quite a nice looking young man - all thanks to recessive genes. His father is dark brown/brown, I am brown/green. His sister is dark brown/blue. Both of the kids ended up with the grandMOTHERS eye colors, while we have our fathers.

Charlie Wilson: Diagnosed With Prostate Cancer {BV Newswire}

Feb 8th 2009 7:42AM I have to agree with Bonita. I have diabetes, and that is another disease, for some reason, that seems to affect asians, latinos, and blacks from around the globe greater than whites. When I went to my education class, I was one of the few white persons in attendance. There were quite a few YOUNG (in their 20s) latinos - thin, active men - who had been diagnosed.

Fan Takes Leak on Matt Cassel at Party {Fanhouse NFL Blog}

Feb 3rd 2009 7:07PM As gross & disgusting as it was, Cassel didn't forget WHO he is - an assault (& battery) could have put his career in jeopardy. He left the situation the bigger man, rose above the low life that just 'couldn't wait any longer'. Maybe the low life should have gone outside (and lost his way back in....).

15 Things You Never Say to a Woman -- 1. That Time? {Asylum}

Jan 24th 2009 9:04AM I'm a woman, and I rather agree with most of the article. I also agree with the comments that the weight issue should have been mentioned (under or overweight can be sensitive). Another item SOME women can be sensitive about is clothing. "Where'd ya get that?" (sic) is really no one's business. "I like your sweater" sounds so much nicer AND sincere.

Bad Songs by Good Bands: No. 1 {Spinner}

Dec 30th 2008 9:35PM OMG. How about "A list of songs from Spinner writers pulled out from somewhere unmentionable and label it bad, because we HAVE no musical taste ?"

Divorce Calculator shows odds your marriage will last {WalletPop}

Dec 2nd 2008 6:59PM DM - you have either walked the famliar road or are a counselor. This hit the nail on the head. When my 'wake up call' to leave had arrived, it wasnt until many months later I realized how over the marriage was years ago - and for the reasons. How I subconsciously suppressed them, as I was trying to raise a family. My children are more important to me - they dont give you a second chance if you goof up raising them !

Autistic Girl Kicked out of Girl Scout Troop {ParentDish}

Dec 2nd 2008 3:27PM as a parent of an autistic child that has been 'removed' from many day care centers and even a CCD program at my church, I can relate. It's a major frustration. My son will be 18 on Thursday, and now is a senior in High School - a special needs classroom. He works a part-time job, and saves most of his paycheck. When the children are small, and the communication bridge is tough, it's hard to get a link in with these little ones until that gap is met. At my son's school - the adult to child ratio was often 4-1 or even 3-1 at the early years - and I'm quite certain even though it was a special needs Girl Scout troop they didnt have enough volunteers, or someone who was specially trained in dealing with autism. If she was biting herself, she was probably frustrated that she couldnt communicate her needs to the group. Input works, output broken. They can understand just fine, they just cannot communicate back out.

The Most Irritating Phrases in the English Language {Lemondrop}

Nov 13th 2008 7:23PM this may be unique to the Eastern Shore of Delmarva, but "beins as" (pronounced be-ins) for "since". Usage would be "Beins as you're going to Wal-Mart can you get me some green beans please?" I'm originally from the DC area, and I never heard the term until I moved down here 20 years ago. Now I hear it constantly.
