Nov 14th 2009 9:33AM Jordan is definitely a legend, and may very well be the best player of all time.
But I agree with Coach Van Gundy. You can say that Jordan made the NBA what it was today. But the Jordan-led NBA wouldn't have been popular if Bird & Magic didn't take the NBA out of tape-delayed Finals the decade before. And before them was Oscar & Bill Russell & Wilt.

As Stan said, baseball retiring Jackie's # was more because of its historical significance. Yes, he was a fantastic player, but was he the best in baseball history? Certainly not. Babe Ruth's # isn't retired league-wide.

The historical aspect is why I would say if the NBA were going to retire a number league, it should be Russell's. Not only was he an incredible player, but he was also probably the first national African-American superstar in the league.

Apr 14th 2009 9:50AM I'm not surprised. Something about the whole election process told me that it wasn't exactly McCain's choice to have Palin as his running mate anyways, but rather the party's choice, so I'm not surprised by this at all.

Dec 24th 2008 10:34AM Up until last night, I would have voted The Dark Knight & The Express as 1-2 for my favorite movies of the year.
But now, I honestly have to say "7 Pounds" topped both.
What Will's character did in that movie is truly inspiring. I want to make sure that when it is my time to go, I have changed the world like that.
