The Daily Grind: What are your thoughts on the World of Warcraft couple? {Massively}

Jan 11th 2010 10:34AM The one interesting aspect of this whole thing is the way in which MMOs provide a forum for people to meet (albeit virtually) where they would otherwise be unlikely to do so. I can think of very few places where a 42 year old would come into regular social contact with a 16 year old in a way that would not be noticed and attract censure . Libraries? Workplace? Both would fail the notice/censure check. MMOs are the only 'places' where these contacts can occur and it is inevitable, albeit a little sad, that some of these contacts will flourish. Why sad? Well because age-of-consent aside (and it is NOT a side issue!) what are the chances of this relationship going anywhere?Seriously. There is a reason why, within certain tolerances, most people partner with people in their generation. You can tell me it's 'only' a 26yo age difference but I bet the successful example you have in your head is one where both are above a certain age, e.g. 40 & 66.
