Best Chocolate Ice Cream: Our Taste Test Results {Slashfood}
Aug 29th 2010 3:24PM Odd, the metrics for the vanilla contest also had some mix-ups:
Fourth Runner-Up: Häagen Daz Creamy: 4, Vanilla bean flavor: 4
Overall Winner: America's Choice: Creamy: 2, Vanilla bean flavor: 1
Third Worst: Whole Foods 365: Creamy: 2, Vanilla bean flavor: 2
Can anyone explain why the winner has such low numbers and the fourth runner-up has higher numbers?

Five Guys, PF Chang, California Pizza Kitchen ticketed by food police {WalletPop}
May 26th 2010 7:51PM No one needs to eat a full serving! If their Pasta Carbonara is $14.50 for four cups of pasta, then it is $7.25 for two people with healthy appetites. And I mean healthy in both senses: not too much, and not too little.
Restaurants started making bigger portions to give better food cost value -- wherever does that require anyone to overconsume. Take half of the portion home!!!!
How to Dog-Proof Your House {Pawnation OLD}
Oct 25th 2009 4:32AM Crates are comforting to dogs. Their natural home is a den, a dug-in or rock cave, which humans would not like to be in. If you observe your dog, and s/he has free roam -- when they are tired they sometimes look for protected places under chairs, tables, beds -- i.e. their den. The wire isn't a problem for them, they appreciate the tight quarters. You are trying to make those who crate their dogs feel guilty? If they followed your advice they would not be providing a comforting space for their dog while they are away.
14-Year-Old African Turns Garbage Into Wind Power {Asylum}
Oct 13th 2009 4:54AM Keith, you -- amd most Americans -- do not realize that land phones, which require a copper-wire infrastructure, are not used in most areas of Africa. So yes, cell-phones, because the towers are cheaper to build and easier to maintain. They need phones, and the only phone they can get is a cell phone.
Cops scamming tourists at Bangkok airport {Gadling}
Jul 23rd 2009 2:04PM While walking in Manhattan's Upper East Side, where I live, a man walked a bit too close to me. His girlfriend and another couple - stylish Euros - carried on a lively conversation, while he bumped into me on the side where my pocketbook (worn bandolier style) was on my hip. We do not have a problem with pickpockets in this part of town -- so it took a few seconds for me to realize why this handsome man seemed to have an interest in me. He expected I would be flattered with his attention and not realize what he was doing. I moved away but he followed -- his friends carefully realigning themselves ahead and behind. Not able to get away without running, I held my forearm across the top of my bag -- and parried each bump. After a few tries, he said 'Hello.' and I realized that engaging me in conversation was the next tactic -- so I ignored him.
I am a soccer player so the bumps (we call them charges) were easy to withstand. The man began to get puzzled -- he was doing everything right but for some reason this dumb NY chick's handbag remained safe. When I got to my destination -- and had not seen any police -- I abruptly changed direction and they could not follow without making their efforts too obvious. "What happened?" asked one of the women in Spanish or Italian (is there a reagion where the language sounds like a meld?) I said, "Euro-trash." Their shock at realizing that I had been onto them from the beginning was worth the bad experience.
Underwire bra dispute causes woman to miss her flight {Gadling}
Apr 8th 2009 11:04PM The passenger knew, or should have known, that the bra would not go through the sensor w/o setting off alarms. She was being a drama queen -- and so are all the others who are carrying or wearing anything metal. If they forgot, then they should apologize. Amazing how people find the need to complicate their, and others, lives.

Eveyone is entitled to their own taste, but it looks tacky to me. I'd have to be paid a LOT of money to live in it.
BREAKING: Mel Speaks; It's No Longer Alleged {Cinematical}
Jul 30th 2006 1:07PM To halfpint and the others who claim that everyone has bigoted thoughts: you are wrong, many people do not have bigoted thoughts. You are generalizing from your own thinking, such that it is.
But you have a right to your opinion -- that is what is wrong with the pc issue. I'd prefer to know who thinks I am a bad person because I am a Jew. Please tell me so I can stay far far away!
