Jun 8th 2011 4:52AM I wish I had been there, as a citizen who appreciates what the men and women of the armed forces have to endure, I would have picked up the additional "baggage fees" for each and everyone of them. Yes I know it was $2800 but I probably make more than a service person and I would not have the job or a place to live out my life in freedom without their sacrafices. It would have been a small price to pay. I would wager that if it had spread around the terminal what was being done to the soldiers...I would not have been the only person willing to pay the extra fees. Delta, sure you have the "right" to charge whatever you can get away with, I hope the loss of respect for your company was worth the price you will pay!

May 16th 2011 4:04AM I am 61 years old so my comments are from my teenage years. My parents told me that if I was ever found using drugs by them I did not have to worry about the Police finding out , they would call the police themselves...I believed them and their statement. They also stated that if I got drunk while out at a party or stoned, they would pick me up so I could get home safely, consequences would be dealt with later. I was 18 before I tried my first marijuana, I like being in control of my faculties and did not like the way it made me feel. My parents had alcohol one time during the year and that was whiskey and eggnog, I remember seeing the same bottle of whiskey year after year. I do not do drugs but have a drink now and then..I still like being in control of my faculties not being controlled by a substance but hey..that is me. My children have tried marijuana and alcohol, none are dependent upon either. Both drink now and then but SAY they don't do the drugs..I tend to believe them. I am DRE trained (drug recognition) and have never noticed symptoms of drug use. I believe as parents our NOT using drugs or alcohol (in excess) helped with my children avoiding the trap. I do not believe I would have punished my teen if they came to me with an admission of use, it would have opened a door to a good conversation. Kids will listen if you set down some rules to follow.

May 13th 2011 1:29PM Sheen has cut his own throat and that is his problem...but if you think Kutcher is the answer you (CBS) are dumber that Sheen. Just cancel the show and start over with the reruns from start to finish, stop jumping around to different segments, take the viewer's from beginning to end in sequence. I think you will discover even more people will watch. Hype it up for a few days and I think you will be surprised.

I remember when the media had a little bit of integrity instead of trying to make the news...they reported the news. Mar 3rd 2011 3:16PM READ the article, she was breathing, the son placed an oxygen mask on her. You DO NOT give CPR to a person who is breathing on their own. Even if there had been a doctor on board he would not have began CPR while she was breathing. It is unknown when she stopped breathing and yes most if not all planes now carry a defibrilator. My question is if they knew they had an emergency then why did they deplane all the rest of the passengers prior to getting the paramedics at least on board with her. They may pay but not because they did not perform CPR on a breathing subject. Did they ask the airport for priority landing? Did they indeed have an ambulance waiting? These questions if answered in the negative will doom the carrier in a lawsuit. Reasonable care in the emergency by the carrier will be what makes or breaks the lawsuit.

Feb 25th 2011 1:06AM I'm with UWE on this one...if you can present your phone as evidence that you did not speed it won't be to long before your phone is subpoenaed to show that you have a tendency to speed by going over the speed limit, not only the time of the ticket but hours and the days before the ticket and the days leading up to your court appearance. The science can work both ways. What I like about the article is the judge saw the person had a previously GOOD record and that is probably what swayed his decision. Most Radar operators are quite familiar with what they need to know to testify in court, very rare if not impossible to find one that knows as little as this officer appeared to not know! His agency should retrain him or take him out of the traffic unit. Traffic officers are a necessary evil, the roads would be way to dangerous if there were no traffic Police. All professions have bad employees, thank God that there are very few Officers who feel the need to lie just to give YOU a ticket!! Think about how many times you have said to yourself or other passengers "where is a cop when you need one". Nobody wants a ticket but everyday you drive you probably violate a section of the Vehicle Code and are never stopped...some people just bring attention to themselves...you know the type! Drive safely out there, the life you save may be your wife, girlfriend, boyfriend, mother, father,sister, brother, child...even your own life. Grow up and stop blaming the Police for your troubles, you will like yourself more.

Feb 9th 2011 2:41PM If it was not for the men and women of the military KEVIN BLACKISTONER could not write the article he did. He would be taken out to some wall and shot. I fought in Vietnam and worked 30 years in public service and I love the National Anthem, as a fairly macho male my eyes get misty when it is sung properly and with respect. When I was growing up our school day started with the raising of the flag and the National Anthem played over the PA system. Every now and then a Military Color Guard would come to the school and present the colors for the school formation. You want to learn the words then get busy and learn them. Add the words to the player sheet given at all sporting events. Show the words on the BIG screen when it is being sung so all can follow and LEARN!

Feb 8th 2011 12:17AM I would like to see a contest across the nation for some high school student to win the opportunity to sing the Star Spangled Banner at the Super Bowl. They would absolutely be thrilled at the chance and would sing it the way it is supposed to be sung. Get rid of the celebrity singers...they have had their 15 minutes of fame..give someone a chance who would really appreciate singing our National Anthem for a stadium full of supporters! Right on John remembering the cost of freedom!
