Jan 8th 2010 2:57PM The article made many valid points about bank failures but I am not all that confident in the depth of the research. South Carolina is dealing with alot of foreclosures and many banks are clearing thier records by selling packaged debt to collection agencies out of state. Carolina First sells thier defaulted and uncollected sub standard loans to Amsher Collections in Alabama after a write off. I would not want to have my bank making risky loans or having already made such loans and are waiting for thousands of future foreclosures to hit the proverbial fan. Nor Would I want to rely on a nearly bankrupt government to back those bad loans up. Remember the F.D.I.C. insures savings and deposits, not loans. There are alternatives to having money in suspect banks and or nego. a loan from banks that are dealing with current and future foreclosures. Many banks are still hiding thier greedy practices from the uninformed public. Research is extremely important now days.
