GuySpeak/GirlSpeak -- The 'Ugly Duckling' Wants Revenge {Lemondrop}

Jan 29th 2010 7:44PM Forgiveness is a wonderful thing. People mature and change (hopefully), and holding them to who they were in the past can do injustice to both that person and yourself. When we are younger, we don't always focus on what the best qualities in life are - and what he sees in you know may not have been what he was focusing on then (hence not noticing you). Don't hold people's past actions against them - if they come into your sphere of influence, look to bring out the best in each other.

PETA Wants to Replace Punxsutawney Phil With a Robot Groundhog {Holidash News}

Jan 29th 2010 3:15AM PETA has lost all credibility, and needs to get a firm understanding that while cruelty to animals is unacceptable, PEOPLE should be their focus. If half the energy they put into what has increasingly become inane, politically-controlling endeavours were put into helping stamp out starvation and abuse among people, I wonder how much they would accomplish?

Chris Matthews MSNBC: 'I Forgot Obama Was Black for an Hour' {BV Black Spin}

Jan 28th 2010 8:56PM My only concern with this whole question is that there are clear racial/bias issues, because one can say "I'm proud to be black" or "I'm proud to be Latino" or "I'm proud to be a woman" but cannot say "I'm proud to be white" or "I'm proud to be a man." That is, beyond a doubt, racism and gender bias. So until everyone can reference race, heritage, upbringing or gender without fear of repercussions, including against whites and males, then this whole debate is nonsense.

School District Apologizes for MLK Lunch Menu {ParentDish}

Jan 14th 2010 6:23AM I'm not really clear how this is racist. Dr King was from the South, and I LOVE southern food. It is not racist to honor someone by honoring their ethnic background (and yes, the South is an ethnic area). If it is not allowable to honor someone's ethnic background, then this whole "african-american" thing just falls apart, doesn't it? Get over being "african" when in fact we are simply American.

Church Uses Lure of Football to Get Men in Its Pews {Asylum}

Dec 19th 2009 10:52PM If you wish to encourage men to attend church, you need to, well, ENCOURAGE men. Society's habit of putting men down, of teaching men to put themselves down, assuming men are guilty (or wrong) because they are male, and all similar offences has also permeated the church. Teach women and children to afford the same respect to men that they expect to receive themselves, and I wouldn't be suprised if you saw an improvement in society all around. And I suspect that's what Jesus wants from us.

Where Are Tiger's 'Cablinasian' Backers? {Fanhouse Golf Blog}

Dec 10th 2009 5:17PM Why are we concerned with a person's skin color or race? The troubling thing about this article is that it highlights the fact the people apparently do not want equality, and prefer to be racist. You cannot claim you are making strides for equality in any nation, and then continually set up separatist interest groups. Every time you say "why isn't the (fill in your chosen race) community standing behind this person?", you are shattering equality. If we truly want equality, then "(fill in your chosen race) interest groups" must cease, OR, every race must be allowed to talk about itself (including the "white" community) without being called racist, or "anti" anything.

Inappropriate Halloween Costumes: Where Do You Draw the Line? {Holidash News}

Oct 25th 2009 1:08AM It is interesting that as women, we assume we should be allowed to dress however we want, but there should be no consequences. DoI find these costumer "cool"? To some degree, yes. But, if we are going to put ourselves out their in outfits like this, being sexy wiht our clothing (or lack thereof), then we must absolutely shut our mouths and accept the fact that - imagine this - men will be turned on by this and look at us as sex objects. Fancy that - dressing in a way to invite sex actually encourages and invites sex! So, either we grow up as a society and dress appropriately out of respect for each other - or stop being penalizing men for responding to women dressed as hookers.

Chia Obama Pulled From Shelves -- Again {Shelterpop}

Oct 10th 2009 1:04AM If the Obama Chia is racist, then the Einstein one must be as well...and the cartoon ones must be, too, because they are making fun of white characters. Hopefully you get my point. Racism, in any form, is wrong, and to keep putting walls up around ourselves is also racism. Clamping down on others and making everyone afraid to even breathe wrong is exactly what racism does. We can't heal unless we are willing to stop pushing the racial slur of "racism" and "racist" in each others faces, and are willing to take each others actions at face value.

Save water and money the Brazilian way - pee in the shower {WalletPop}

Aug 10th 2009 11:39PM It's not about the cost of the water, it's about the water itself. Having moved from a water-rich country to a water-poor country, I realised how little idea countries like the USA have of how dangerous it is to waste water. By all means, pee in the shower! Even if you save 1 gallon of water today, that means that gallon is available for tomorrow. Use a bucket to catch "warm-up" water and use it on your flowers when it is cool. Fix up a hose so you can pipe your final cycle washing machine rinse water out into your lawn. Recycle "gray" water (but be sure to properly dispose of "black" water!).

Dad called pervert for taking pictures of his own kids in public {ParentDish}

Jul 20th 2008 12:46AM We've allowed ourselves to create a paranoid and mentally incompetent society - this is the STUPIDEST thing I've heard yet. What's next - permission slips for parents to take their children to the toilet? All we know how to do is create criminals out of innocent poeple. GROW UP, everyone, and GET OVER IT. Start thinking for yourselves, TEACH your children morals, responsibility and hard work, and DITCH THE PARANOIA. If you teach your child to be responsible, then you don't have to worry (as much) that she or he will grow up to prey on others. By the way, Lizzie - I agree, if this had been a woman, no-one would have thought twice. Discrimination is discrimination!
