Peep of Faith -- The Most Heavenly Easter Candy Dioramas {Asylum}
Mar 22nd 2008 9:53AM Are you all referring to the "50 years ago" when Blacks were denied employment, or worse, being lynched, gays where beaten to death, women weren't allowed to do certain jobs, people were imprisoned for "rumored" associations with communism, and the American-Japanese were unlawfully thrown into "internment" camps?
Yeah, there was a lot more respect back then...I'll grant you that...
Tucker Carlson Brags About Gay-Bashing {News Bloggers}
Aug 29th 2007 10:57PM I'm gay (and a left wing liberal) and I don't think what Tucker was describing was gay bashing. Men who proposition other men for sex in public bathrooms have other issues that are not related to homosexuality.
It is refreshing to see so many comments on this board that are "protecting" gays from gay bashing - it really is a welcome sign of changing times and attitudes. But I just don't see how Tucker's behavior can be construed as a hate crime let alone gay bashing.
Cho Seung-Hui's Plays {News Bloggers}
Apr 17th 2007 3:46PM It is obvious that none of these comments are made by people who have actually been in a COLLEGE creative writing courses. The idea of these courses is creative expression - and most of it is offensive. Right now, I have a college plawriting professor who claims if your play doesn't offend someone it is too safe and not original enough. There is no way that a professor would "forward" this to a "counselor". This is college, people!!
This tragedy is nobody's fault but the shooter's. No one could have forseen that his sullen behavior was an indication of extreme violence. The real problem here is the marginalization of people who are different. Kudos to those who "tried to share their Halloween candy" with the kid, but there were obviously far worse social problems that a few candy corn couldn't solve. Instead of placing all the blame on professors and school officials, we all should share in the blame as we all are guilty of contributing to the marginalization of those who are different from us.
I'm sorry, I don't (or can't) eat that {Slashfood}
Sep 2nd 2006 6:20PM As a vegetarian who attends many dinner parties, I have never run into a host or hostess like some of those posting on this site. Everyone I know is aware that I am a vegetarian and if they want to cook something that I will eat, they can. If they don't want to, that is fine also. I attend parties for the social aspect. When I throw a dinner party, I do not cook meat and have never had one single unpleasant thing said about my cooking. People enjoy that they get to try a new style of cooking. Allergic? Picky? Health or environmental concerns? All can be accomodated with a slight amount of creativity. People who get annoyed by it all are the kind of people I hate going to dinner parties with...
