Ryan Dunn at Double the Legal Alcohol Limit at Time of Crash {PopEater}
Jun 23rd 2011 5:13AM What is sad is that a writer, presumably a college graduate, is so bad at math. .196 is well over twice .080, it is actually 2.45 times higher than .080.
"After an autopsy and toxicology reports were conducted, it was concluded that Dunn had the legal alcohol limit nearly doubled. His blood alcohol level was .196 while the legal limit in Pennsylvania is .08,"
Steelers, Packers Are in Jerry Jones' Bowl {Fanhouse NFL Blog}
Feb 4th 2011 10:17AM If Jerry is such a nice guy, why doesn't it come through in public? He only reinforces the negative stereotypes about Texas and Texans. He has created a public persona as being greedy, petty and ruthless and what he and Arlington did to some regular people who "didn't have millions" was a blatant land grab that was not only wrong ethically, but is now illegal.
Tex Schramm was the only general manager the Cowboy's ever had until Jerry bought the team from Bum Bright in 1989. Over thirty years Tex Schramm not only built the Cowboys into a team with 20 consecutive winning seasons but created the NFL. Tex should have been inducted into the Cowboys Ring of Honor in the early nineties and would have been except for Jerry Jones' jealousy. He was finally inducted months after his death in 2004. Jones does not compare favorably to Clint Murchison (1959-1984) or Bum Bright (1984-88) as an owner and can't begin to compare to Tex Schramm as a manager. He is just a guy with a check book, coasting on what those men built.
America's team has become Jerry's team and, since they now are not in the City of Dallas or the County of Dallas, they should just call it Jerry's Cowboys and have done.
There are people who have made millions by contributing to the common good and people who have made millions by taking from the common good. I and many other people in North Texas feel that Jerry Jones belongs in the latter category.
Hidden meanings of 10 professional symbols {WalletPop}
Sep 2nd 2010 10:12PM The Caduceus was only associated with medicine due to an error by the US War Deparment who wrongly directed that it be used to identify military medical personel in the late 1800s and it stuck. It is a symbol of Mercury who had nothing to do with medicine, but of commerce. The connection dates back no more than about 130 years.
The staff of aesclepius is the true symbol of medicine dating back to the time of Hippocrates (400 BC). It is a single serpent wrapped around a primitive crutch. That is not a "rough-hewn knotty tree limb". It symbolizes the duality of medical care, that it may help (the crutch) or harm (the serpent). It is the symbol of physicians, not of surgeons. Read the Hippocratic oath, which forbids surgery.
The Hippocratic oath is not in use for medical graduates since the mid-sixties. Read it and you will understand.
Victoria Azarenka Collapses, Wheeled Off at US Open {Fanhouse Tennis}
Sep 2nd 2010 1:45AM If she had a previous head injury, that would be enough to explain it. You don't have to be knocked unconscious to have a significant brain injury.
We are all conditioned by the movies that you can knock someone out and they "come to" in a few minutes like they are waking from a nap. The truth is that effects of closed head trauma can last for weeks, months or years.
I wish her well and a future with many more competitions to come.
Best Vanilla Ice Cream: Our Taste Test Results {Slashfood}
Aug 14th 2010 5:43PM Shhh! They just tested from supermakets in New York and New Jersey. Don't let them know about Blue Bell Homemade Vanilla. The Vanilla Bean is also something to try. They still sell a full half-gallon and I often stock up at $3.99 on sale. Don't let those foreigners on the East Coast know about Blue Bell or there won't be any left in Texas.
Obama Tells Democrats, 'It Is In Your Hands' {Politics Daily}
Mar 20th 2010 6:13PM No insurer may turn down someone for a pre-existing condition.
"Ok, you're approved, your premium for the first year is $126,528.
How would you like to pay for that?"
Another good one: The bill will reduce the deficit by $158 billion, how can it do that if so many more people will be either subsidized or given insurance outright courtesy of the US Taxpayer?
Easy, it is mainly a TAX BILL that will raise taxes by $1,108 billion ($1.108 Trillion) over the next ten years and spend $950 Billion over the six years that it will be in effect (starting 2014)
Huge Engagement Rings Out, Simple Wedding Bands In {Stylelist}
Mar 4th 2010 5:07AM Never wear a ring that is more valuable than your life to a mugger.
In most of the areas of this country where it would be safe to wear a large diamond, it would also be considered in poor taste.
My wife had a lot of input into what she wanted in a ring. If you can't shop for that together then maybe you aren't on the same page about a lot of things. I could have bought her a diamond five times the size of what we got but we went for quality and a classic setting with a superior stone.
We both come from modest backgrounds and our families would not have been pleased to see us buy and display something ostentatious.
Our 22nd anniversary is in April.

Why Coakley Really Lost: Massachusetts' Health Care 'Reform' {Politics Daily}
Jan 20th 2010 8:10AM rec111, your post is a perfect example of exactly the kind of arrogant attitude that is killing your "progressive" movement.
However, I think some Republicans are cheering too early. This was not a pro-Republican vote, it was a vote against those who enter a political office and then think they know better than the people who elected them.
I'm a Libertarian who thinks the major parties are just two sides of the same coin, they only disagree on how THEY should spend YOUR money. Libertarians think YOU should decide how YOU should spend YOUR money.
We need Health INSURANCE reform, we don't need the government meddling in Health CARE. This "health care reform" bill is mainly a new tax bill, and does little to address the problems that we have today in paying for health care. Kill it and start over in a bipartisan way or leave it alone.
Above all, politicians should listen to the people who voted them in or be prepared to be voted out.
