Feb 27th 2012 8:15PM Racism against Mexicans stems from something other than race. It comes from the feeling that, as a conquered people, we should all know our place. The English only debate, for example, only flares up when someone is offended when the lowly Mexicans are speaking within earshot, and may be making fun of the white person. We don't hear that around the northern border where French Canadians tend to visit the US on a regular basis.

True, "Real Genius" was not "Terms of Endearment," "Real People," or "Prizzi's Honor," but not all movies have to be heartfelt and serious; they are, after all, ENTERTAINMENT! Beyond that, "Genius" actually offers poignant commentary on a variety of topics ranging from teenage angst to bullying to the state of education and government. ""Genius" may not, like "The Godfateher," be the I-Ching, the sum of all wisdom (an awkwardly phrased paraphrase of Tom Hanks' review of that film in "You've Got Mail"), but it is just hilarious, smartly written, and superbly acted. Please do not trash such icons simply because they do not appeal to your high-bred sensibilities.
