Can Roger Ebert's 'Kick-Ass' Movie Review Protect America's Youth? {PopEater}
Apr 26th 2010 11:23AM Everyone seems to be missing the fact that this movie is rated R. It's not intended for children, tweens or even most teens and any parent who takes a child under the age of 16 to an R rated movie should be locked up.
I'm not defending the movie, but I don't understand why people keep criticizing the effect a movie will have on children when it isn't intended for children. If you want to criticize it, then find a legitimate reason. There are clearly plenty of other reasons to do so. Criticize it for having a child actor in it, but not what effect it will have on an audience for which it is not even intended.
Netflix To Delay All New Releases for Fox, Universal and Warner Bros. {Cinematical}
Apr 14th 2010 12:13PM I can't see where this will hurt Netflix or the majority of their subscribers.
The number of subscribers they lose from this will be negligible. Netflix won't notice it a bit. There may be a few obsessive fanatics out their that can't wait a few extra days for a movie. And yes, if you can't wait for a movie and get upset over it, then you are an obsessive fanatic. There are much more important things to stress over than when Netflix is getting a particular movie.
And it's not going to make a bit of difference to me or the average subscriber. I generally don't have the new releases at the top of my queue anyway. As a subscriber, it may sound like a bum deal on the onset, but when you stop to think about it, who really cares about a few days? I mean, sure if a doctor tells you that you have 28 days to live, that's a big deal, but if Netflix tells you that you'll have to wait 28 days for a movie, so what?
As others have said, my queue is so large and the amount of time I have to watch movies is so small, I have plenty to watch until the new releases are ready. When I get a new disk from Netflix it can sit on the shelf for weeks before I ever get around to watching it, so whats an extra 28 days. Chances are it will be that long before I realize that movie I wanted to see has been released.
And to those who said it's the principle of the matter, all I can say is "WHAT!!" What principle? Netflix offers a movie rental service and so far it has more than met my expectations.
I get good service from them. I get my movies in about 3 days from the time I return one in the mail and if they don't have something in stock, which is rare, many times they'll have one sent from another location farther away and when they do that they usually send me the next movie on my list as well as the one being sent from farther away.
I love their instant streaming of TV Shows and now that you can watch them on your TV through your Wii, it's even better. Plus it keeps me from having to pay for cable.
Nope, I can't see how this is going to be a major let down nor cause for a mass exodus from Netflix membership.
Southwest Doubles Reward Credits for Faster Free Flights {AOL Travel News}
Apr 9th 2010 12:53PM That may have been a rhetorical question, but part of the reason SWA can offer lower fares and no extra charges is that back before the cost of fuel skyrocketed they basically bought a large quantity (several years worth) of jet fuel at a fuel bank.
Not exactly sure the right terminology, but basically they've been able to pay much cheaper fuel prices because they planned ahead.
I'm sure there are other factors, too, but that's one of the biggest ones.
The Movie Stars Most Likely to Get Naked {Moviefone Blog}
Mar 31st 2010 3:53PM In what movies have you seen anything more than a little skin on Sandra Bullock? Her first truly "nude" role was in her recent hit "The Proposal" and even then you never saw anything but skin; shoulders, neck, legs, that sort of thing. But not so much as a nip. I'm pretty sure (99%) that you've never seen as much as a nip of Ms. Bullock on the big screen. It may happen some day, but it hasn't yet.
Anne Hathaway, on the other hand, has made at least two movies (mentioned above) where her breasts were in full view. I agree that there are other actresses that have been nude more times than Hathaway, but Sandra Bullock is not one of them.
Also, just thought I'd remind everyone, but many times when you think you are seeing a well-known actress nude in a movie you are actually seeing a body double's nude assets and not the actress's herself. These days you have to have a compendium of nudity in movies to know who was actually nude and who was using a body double.
Notorious Reality TV 'Brat' Sues ABC for $100 Million {PopEater}
Mar 23rd 2010 11:39AM Her parents may spend time in jail for money laundering, but the really sad thing is they won't spend a minute in jail for ruining their daughter.
{"I feel the way to Alicia's happiness is, give her everything she wants. Don't give her any rules. Why upset her?" Karen boasted.}

Zebra Report: Wild-Card Round {Fanhouse NFL Blog}
Jan 14th 2010 11:59AM Matt,
There was a play towards the end of the Packers-Arizona game where a roughing the passer was called on Green Bay. The Green Bay defender was coming at Warner as he threw the football. There was an Arizona player blocking the defender and to me it looked like he was obviously holding. With the momentum of the Green Bay player along with the Arizona player pulling him down he ran into Warner and was called for roughing the passer. I believe Aikman commented that it shouldn't be roughing the passer. From what I saw of it, it looked to me like it should definitely have been holding on Arizona rather than roughing the passer on Green Bay.
Can you comment on this call? Sorry, I don't know the names of the players involved besides Warner.
NFL Power Rankings, Week 14: Best of the Rest {Fanhouse NFL Blog}
Dec 9th 2009 10:05AM Uhh? No.. The fact still remains that the Vikes are 10-2 and the Cards are only 8-4. You don't get to discount the entire rest of the season because of one game. It isn't the playoffs, yet!
Ian McKellen 'Proudly' Rips Leviticus 18:22 Out of All Bibles {PopEater}
Nov 2nd 2009 3:14PM Uh, Spicemonkey,
The Bible does say that whoever adds to or removes from God's word will be punished. And although I don't think it was specifically talking about ripping pages out of the Bible, I do believe it applies here, as Mr. McKellen is clearly trying to remove from God's word, albeit in a rather unconventional way.
Larry Johnson Slur Nets Him Some More Free Time {Fanhouse NFL Blog}
Oct 28th 2009 3:19PM Uh, Jay? All of those slurs except cracker could refer to any race, not just whites. Try these: white trash, honkie, whitey and albino. There are probably others, but also being white, they don't come to mind at the moment.
Hey norrin96,
It may not be in the Constitution but I'm pretty sure "the right to feel comfortable" falls under the the Declaration of Independence's "pursuit of happiness" as an inalienable right of all people.
