May 3rd 2010 1:08PM Actually everyone in the program enjoyed being bragged about. We entered the program in 2nd grade and graduated together, and 30 of us are still friends still today. Perhaps is the way the child was being praised. Some kids are praised for every single thing and that's not how you praise a child.

May 3rd 2010 12:57PM Something that parents need to remember is that a gifted child stands out in a class. So if there are 30 students, only 1 to 2 students are actually gifted. I was chosen out of a class of 30 to take a test to enter the gifted and talented program which is a selective school for gifted students. I was number 1 on the list. Keep in mind your child must pass an IQ test. This isn't just any IQ test you can obtain over the internet or written test. This is a one on one contact with a person asking a series of questions. Your child must have an IQ of 130-140 to be considered for the program (then again the school considers what is gifted). There is also a waiting list for those that make the top ten, so that they may enter the program when space is available. I've successfully completed the program and graduated from high school. I graduated college and continuing my education as a speech pathologist. However, you don’t need to place your child in a gifted program. He/she will be fine at a “regular” school providing he/she is challenged mentally or else the child will get bored and get into trouble. My husband is an excellent example of that.

Mar 5th 2010 10:27PM What happened here is that her biological clock was ticking and she had sex with a random man; the same way she got her first child. Having one night stands isn't bad but not having common sense is. There are many people walking around with HIV and other "gift that keeps on giving" STD's. Why would you put youself at risk and not use a condom? She didn't mention that she used one and and it broke nor did she run out and get the morning after pill. So, yes i think it was on purpose. She should be happy she didn't get more than just a child.

Jan 23rd 2010 10:01PM Actually I think she is too concern with what others think. My husband is white and I'm mix myself. I have never received any racical slurs because I don't I give a damn. I have so many nationalities that racial slurs have no weight. However, i do have numerous of people coming up to me to see my son who can past for white kid. They wonder what I am to him. Some congratulate me on a him which is weird. My husband doesn't see color. If anyone comments on how he's dating me, he puts them in their spot. Whether the town is large or small, I've never had a problem. When you don't give a damn, you'll be surprise how people mind their business.

Jan 18th 2010 10:46PM Agnes is an ugly name. I'm just going to be honest. Granted my name isn't any better - Teri, but I would not name my girl that. Names tells you a lot about a person. Agnes sounds like an ugly girl and I've never met an Agnes that was pretty. Since my name is used for both male and females. Most people think of a male rather than female when they see Teri eventhough it is spelled differently. That's like naming your kid Shanique. We all know what she looks like. I would name my girl Olivia.
