May 29th 2011 1:18AM Cynthia, just because we're vegetarian doesn't mean we don't like how meat tastes ( at least speaking for myself) I just don't want an animal to die so I can eat it. If I can achieve that same flavor without eating dead animal flesh, then that's what I want.

May 28th 2011 3:46AM wow, I'm graduating high school next week we don't have to pay anything. I have never had to pay for books either. I would pay it of course, $25 isn't much and they are waiving the fee if you can't afford it. Also some of you are misinterpreting the article, thinking that if you can't pay you don't graduate. That's ridiculous. You can graduate even if you don't participate in the ceremony of walking across the stage.

Sep 3rd 2010 4:30PM I gave my daughter a cell phone at the beginning of 8th grade. She really could have used one earlier, in 7th grade or even 6th. It wasn't so much for the safety, although obviously that's important, it was more because by that time, she was involved in lots of afterschool activities which would sometimes get cancelled unexpectedly or be finished early and she needed a way to contact me to pick her up. You can't have 100 kids all vying to use the same office phone.

Aug 20th 2010 1:50PM This breaks my heart for this family, yet it is exactly what I plan to do when my daughter goes off to college 1 year from now. I've been planning it for 2 years. My daughter expects it and even welcomes it, so I'm not really worried about that. She knows how unhappy I am, she sees how unsuited we are for each other. The one who will be surprised and unsure how to deal with it will be my husband. He doesn't think I will really follow through. I hope I have the courage to do so, because I think it is best for all of us.

Jul 23rd 2010 1:07PM I am caucasian and my husband is hispanic. The only comment that ever really bothered me came from my own racist mother, who, when my daughter was a baby (she's now 16), she referred to her as "the little brown one". The only other thing was when we were at a wedding with our daughter when she was a baby, a young white woman (who only saw me, not my husband) said "oh how cute, you're baby has a tan". Other than that, there has been no issue. Everywhere we have lived has been fairly multicultural, we saw all sorts of mixed marriages with children - white and black, white and hispanic, hispanic and black, hispanic and asian, white and indian, etc.
