Bad Tans and Scorching Sunburns -- The Blistering Truth {Asylum}

May 26th 2009 5:05PM OMG! Obviously he fell asleep and one of his friends thought it would be hilarious to mess up his tan. So the friend put sunblock on his own hand and put it on the burned guys chest. Or, the burned guy is a moron and applied the sunblock himself. A fake?!? My god, what a bunch of conspiracy theorists!!! Use your damn brain for something other than "everybody's out to get me" type bullshit and be a little bit imaginative!

Bad Tans and Scorching Sunburns -- The Blistering Truth {Asylum}

May 26th 2009 4:54PM The traditional system of classifying burns categorizes them as first-, second-, or third-degree. Most burns are first- to third-degree, with the higher-degree burns typically being used to classify burns postmortem.[4]
This system is however being replaced by one reflecting the need for surgical intervention. The burn depths are described as either superficial, superficial partial-thickness, deep partial-thickness, or full-thickness.[5] The following are brief descriptions of these classes:
[edit]By degree

Second degree burn caused by contact with glue at 145 Degrees C.
First-degree burns are usually limited to redness (erythema), a white plaque and minor pain at the site of injury. These burns involve only the epidermis. Most sunburns can be included as first degree burns.
Second-degree burns manifest as erythema with superficial blistering of the skin, and can involve more or less pain depending on the level of nerve involvement. Second-degree burns involve the superficial (papillary) dermis and may also involve the deep (reticular) dermis layer.

Major second degree burn caused by contact with boiling water.
Third-degree burns occur when the epidermis is lost with damage to the subcutaneous tissue. Burn victims will exhibit charring and extreme damage of the epidermis, and sometimes hard eschar will be present. Third-degree burns result in scarring and victims will also exhibit the loss of hair shafts and keratin. These burns may require grafting.
Fourth-degree burns damage muscle, tendon, and ligament tissue, thus result in charring and catastrophic damage of the hypodermis. In some instances the hypodermis tissue may be partially or completely burned away as well as this may result in a condition called compartment syndrome, which threatens both the life and the limb of the patient. Grafting is required if the burn does not prove to be fatal.

Jan 3rd 2007 3:50PM WOW! I CAN SLEEP TONIGHT, THIS INFORMATION JUST TOTALLY PUT MY MIND AT EASE. NOW I KNOW THAT SOME A-HOLE WITH TOO MUCH MONEY WILL BE SPENDING IT ON A BOTTLE OF WINE INSTEAD OF GIVING TO CHARITIES THAT WOULD HELP THE U.S. AND OUR ECONOMY, THE HOMELESS, THE SICK, THE DYING, OUR VETS, OUR ELDERLY, AND OUR CHILDREN. WHAT A WASTE!

BMI: the good, the bad and the ugly {Stylelist}

Sep 24th 2006 3:02PM First of all, to Liz. Not everyone in this world has control of their own weight, and it is people like who that make them feel horrible. My cousin has a thyroid problem and continually gains weight no matter what meds she's on, or what diet and excercise she tries. You are obviously and insensitive (and probably disgustingly thin) person. There is a fine line between healthy and sick, most of today's models have crossed that line. Viewers should not be able to count ribs from the front and from the back at 10 feet down the runway. My daughter, as well as her 2 best friends, are average sized (8-12) and they are constantly being ridiculed and picked on to the point that one of them is currently in the hospital fighting an eating disorder. Her mother saw the signs right away and took the proper steps. there are women of all shapes and sizes in this world, and all can be beautiful if they chose to be. You don't have to be a size 0 (what's next, negative sizes for the incredibly sick and unhealthy?!?) to be gorgeous, but in today's society, you have to be a 0 to be welcome into the world. Shame on everyone who feels this way. WAY TO GO MADRID!!
