Why Former Jay Leno Fans Turned Their Back on 'The Tonight Show' {PopEater}
Mar 17th 2010 9:56AM So far, of all the posts, Yvonne, you have gotten to the real crux of the issue. Leno and "CoCo" are merely pawns on board at NBC.
Opinion: If You Screw Up And Your Parents Are Famous, Blame Them {ParentDish}
Feb 27th 2010 3:20PM Cameron, honey...............just say, "No!" It was YOUR choice, certainly not any choice your parents made. Take personal responsibility for your actions and stop trying to blame someone else.
Russians Alter Controversial Aboriginal-Themed Costumes {Fanhouse Olympics Blog}
Feb 22nd 2010 9:42PM You do realize of course that we are going to PC ourselves right out of existence! Does this mean that on Halloween that no one can dress as a Witch because it will offend the Wiccans, can't dress as an Arab sheik or dancing girl because that will offend the folks from the middle east, no Geisha costumes or the Japanese might get miffed, no gauchos because the folks down there on the Pampas might be offended, can't go as a Flamenco dancer because Spain's nose will get out of joint.........give me a break. Listen to how ludicrous we sound! What happen to the Free World???
What Is Behind Kevin Eubanks' Split From Jay Leno? {PopEater}
Feb 17th 2010 3:24PM Bands and good guitarists are a dime a dozen. As an old friend used to say, "Darling, there is always another bus at the Bus Stop!" Ergo.............I don't think Jay will have a tremendously difficult task replacing Kevin.
Conan O'Brien: Divorce from NBC is Ugly and "Crazy Expensive" {Luxist}
Jan 22nd 2010 4:52PM The problem is that not too many folks were staying up to see the News after watching Jay Leno which just proves to me that Conan O'Brien wasn't a big enough draw to keep people from going to bed after Jay Leno. Apparently the sponsors for the News at 11:00 weren't too happy with paying the big bucks for a reduced audience. When Jay was on AFTER the news, people stayed up to see him, not so with Conan. Follow the money........
Should overweight passengers pay extra for airline tickets? {Gadling}
Dec 11th 2009 9:46AM Airlines are in the business of making money, people! That doesn't make them "greedy" or bad. They get you from here to there and while they are doing all that, they are providing jobs for millions of people, either as carriers or consumers of related industry products. Stop lumping big business into the "evil" category that Congress perpetuates only to misdirect your attention from their nefarious, politica,l sleight-of-hand, chicanery. If ALL the seats won't accommodate the obese of this world it is because they build the planes to maximize profit and still get you from here to there for a reasonable price. If you use up two seats that cost $250 each then you should be paying for two seats. The airlines aren't in business to cater to your food addiction. To take up one seat and half of someone else's is very selfish and inconsiderate on your part. When parents have purchased tickets for themselves and their children, the children should not have to be separated from their parents simply to accommodate a grossly overweight passenger. Yes, a very small percentage of people are overweight due to medical problems, however, the rest of you have an addiction that you refuse to acknowledge & won't do anything about. Personally, I don't consider obesity a disability (and I am a little chunkier than I care to be but, working on it), so you can cancel THAT pity-party.
Hot Doll Trend: Barbie in a Burka {ParentDish}
Nov 30th 2009 9:50PM Excellent point. No other country would even consider catering to Americans...........unless the Americans are spending big bucks on something, and even then it would be confined to a hotel/casino comp. Would any other country worry about whether the Americans had special classes for American children? NOT! Just color me tired of all this PC BS. If we stopped all these special programs for illegal aliens maybe we could afford to take care of Americans. How unique is that?
Kids Should Play in the Dirt {Asylum}
Nov 28th 2009 2:57PM When I was growing up and playing outside all the time, my mother used to say, "You have to eat a peck of dirt before you die." It was one of those old sayings that apparently is totally non-PC by today's generations.
Couple arrested after refusing to pay tip at Pennsylvania pub {Daily Finance}
Nov 21st 2009 9:42AM Excuse me, but, I was always under the impression that tips were given for good service, and if there was poor service, you left a penny as a message. How can a business "legislate" mandatory tipping? That only leaves the door wide open for poor service as the server is guarranteed a tip regardless of how badly he/she does their job. Mandatory tipping smacks of socialism. Doesn't matter that you may not deserve, but you're going to get it anyway. I've known quite a few waitresses and waiters in my long life and I've heard them crow and brag about how many hundreds of dollars they've made in tips on some nights. Yes, they work hard, but they aren't the only ones who bust butt to do their job and the rest of us don't get tipped for it. They are also not getting taxed on 20% tips...........yet. The ones who don't make big bucks in tips are the ones who work the day time jobs at the local diner or breakfast/lunch emporium. THEY are the ones I leave 20%, the rest get 15% IF they are pleasant and do a good job. I would never penalize a server for poor food, only poor service.
Mall Santas Fear Swine Flu {Holidash News}
Nov 19th 2009 11:34AM Parents for the most part really don't care if they or their contagious child infects anyone else. I remember when my husband was a Boy Scout leader and the scouts were supposed to go on a weekend camping trip with the troop. One of the mothers sent her son camping, KNOWING he was sick with the flu. He threw up all over our Suburban with about 6 other kids in the car. The ALL ended up with the flu including my son and husband and ultimately, me. There are very few people who have the brains and conscience enough to stay home when they are ill. I think the Japanese are the only ones on this earth who really have the common sense enough to head off a problem before it starts when it comes to contagious diseases.
