Zoo Lion Wants So Badly to Eat This Human Baby {Pawnation OLD}

Jun 17th 2011 9:49PM in Bengal-baby/ baby carriage, the two tigers LOOK stressed out. the glass ?) on the enclosure is clearly scratched up, and their enclosure looks like an awful place for them to be!! admittedly I've seen worse (Animal Planet seizures), but the two appeared to be thin and .. could the panting, aside from the pacing also indicate stress? just .. stupid!! wild animals should NEVER come to be kept in such a way.

What's the White Stuff on Vanessa Hudgens' Finger? {PopEater}

Apr 19th 2011 12:45PM DRUGS have been in hollywood since .. well, likely waaaay before even Rooney and Judy were given drugs as kid stars to 'enhance' their performances (keep 'em up so they could work). not as if I support anyone doing recreational stuff, but .. who cares? oh well; at least Sheen isn't IN YOUR FACE everywhere anymore.
who knows what this kid was doing....

Ask the AKC Animal Behaviorist: My Grieving Dog Is Having Major Separation Anxiety {Pawnation OLD}

Mar 10th 2011 3:45PM sosorry for the pain and loss of Bear and the problems in trying to help Gunner come to terms with something he cannot speak of -- I think all animals grieve for one another be they dogs, cats or horses. really hard when those surviving do not understand or are overwhelmed with grief! just as we want to help their physical pain we want to help when they are showing any other wigns of distress. awhile after my dog passed away,I adopted another dog from our city shelter. I got a senior dog whose family had been evicted. I cannot afford to have more than one at a time, and neither dog is a dog who would tolerate a cat (unfortunately!!). this new guy is amazingly in great shape now in the going on three months he's been here. he still, I think, sometimes looks for his old owner/s. I'm fairly sure they had a car and or a van as he always wants to check out parked cars -- this is slowing down fortunately a little. I wish I could foster another, but he isn't at all like my last guy. this is my first experience with a pit mix and I know he could do a great deal of damage to another dog if there were a disagreement. he was well trained, and hasn't been a problem, but I know I must always be careful. bless all of you who are able to have more than just one!
the best dogs of all are those who are waiting for homes at shelters; all one needs to go is look, and somehow the right one will turn up at the right time. this guy is perfect for me so far!

New Breeds at Westminster Dog Show {Pawnation OLD}

Feb 8th 2011 7:10PM ...WHY haven't they otten around (YET!!) to one of America's oldest and best hound breeds, the Blackmouth Cur Dog?????!!! had a dog who wa one third Black Mouth Cur and he was just so fabulous!!! lost him this poast year and it broke my heart. a rescue, he was never as healthy as he might have been for reasons I don't know; just his mix and that his hips among other things weren't great. he seemed to age fast, and the hips were catching up to him fast. with a good Cur dog thi wouldn't happen, and even with many mixes it doesn't. suggest anyone who wants to read about them look up a site about them (this guy still does some breeding I think) by a man whose name is Oyler. he's written the bes info on them. also a kennel called Black Mouth of the South which is, I think, the daughter and her family of Mr Oyler. their dogs are BEAUTIFUL!!! about damn time the Bluetick and Red Bone are in there!!

Nation's First Gay History Museum Opens {AOL Travel News}

Jan 15th 2011 10:42PM uncle buck, you rock. I just opened this article to see which city had this museum; should have known to anticipate the usual brains of a hair ball types expressed here. such a damn shame so many people are brought up with such ignorance and then the others just flat out choose to remain that way. I wish we had such a muiseum here, but then there likely will be eventually; after all, this is where Stonewall happened back in the old days. an awful lot of history has happened here.

Squirrel Is Outside, Looking In {Pawnation OLD}

Jan 11th 2011 12:55AM in NYC in Central Park many of the squirrels are so 'friendly' they'll mug you for your food; kind of think they are like that in many cities. a friend's cat had one who was his 'friend' for a short time. it would come to the window and look in, the
cat would jump up to the other side of the window and gaze out at him/ her. it didn't seem like the cat was at all agressive to the squirrel. just .. curious.

Octogenarians Fined $12,000 Over Cat {Pawnation OLD}

Jan 9th 2011 11:52PM my mom had Alzheimer's. she did find cats to be soothing; cats or dogs in fact, but especially a cat. they even had animalswho came to visit as therapy where
she had to be after my dad could no longer care for her at home. (I live in another state). this is an absolutely horrific story. this 'condo' place ought to somehow never see a damn cent. I wish there were some way someone could help this poor couple; they have been through more than enough already.

Pet Detective Tails Crooked Dog Walkers {Pawnation OLD}

Jan 5th 2011 4:05PM living in said city mentioned in this artcle I can say there is a need for this! foras many really good and reputable people there are who take on this profession, there are those who make me wince. some are simply young and careless (or just immature and careless). and there are those who just don't practice simple logic and safe practices such as walking a dog in an area which is SO not a good place to walkthe dog as opposed to the park just a couple of blocks the other way! (had to wonder; is that dog going for a walk, or is this something else entirely?). one ought to take the time to get to know people by reputation, observation, references. or .. a guy like this mentioned above if they haven't the time to 'do' this them selves.

So This Is What Baby Parrots Look Like {Pawnation OLD}

Dec 31st 2010 11:37PM ... well, guess that just as dogs 'grow into their big ears, paws, and real long tails' (the large breeds), parrots must 'grow into their huge great big heads'!!
I can't imagine watching them trying to walk around, but that must come much later than this photo.

How To Help Local Animal Shelters This Winter {Pawnation OLD}

Dec 22nd 2010 7:33PM REALLY pleased to see this article!!! I had lost my dog of 10 years in early September of this year which was devastating. not being someone who can afford more than one -and I live where I don't have quite the space; had a big dog-
i came to realize that I had to adopt another. I knew I was simply not up for a puppy; I decided I wanted a mixed breed dog of a young but 'adult' age. wound up -2 days ago!- with a senior dog from our city shelter. cannot tell you what an eyeopening experience this has been asI went through the search and then had my experience with this shelter. they need -I'd say ALL of them!- anyone who is able to volunteer! of course fostering does save lots of dogs and is a great thig to do!! another thingis that there are SO many pits and pit mixes. I know well how expensive Kong toys are, but wow; if you possibly can -even if it's a 'gently used' if there even IS such a thing, lol!!- the redmediums or black ones i can imagine would be real welcome. these poor guys and girlsgo sort of stir crazy. having something to chew helps! mine was SO blown away by HIS new Kong toy I wonder if his (former) owners had ever given him one. the stuffed thingsmostly just get destroyed! and rope toys are great as well. volunteers are the best though. the people who work at the shelters have had dreadful cutbacks like every where else. the really need some help! thanks for reading...
