One Touch Can Opener review: If it only kept working ... {WalletPop}
Oct 14th 2010 7:11PM I've had mine for several years and it has always worked really well. I love it.
'Dirtiest Apartment' Contestants Need Maids/Psychiatrists {Asylum}
Jul 22nd 2009 11:57PM As a caseworker, I used to work with families in their homes. Some of their homes looked much worse than any of these. It is very sad and is so difficult to help any of these people make the changes necessary to provide themselves with healthful living situations. Some are hoarders due to severe deprivation when young. Some are just so used to living in a chaotic environment that cleanliness and orderliness make them uncomfortable. There are also people who simply don't care what their environment looks like. However, I believe that most people who live like this have some sort of mental disorder. So sad...
Are you a Chapstick addict? {Stylelist}
Jun 17th 2007 1:37PM I started out with Vaseline and switched to Dew Kiss by Avon years ago. I buy these lip balms by the dozen. My greatest nightmare when I was younger was that I might be stuck somewhere without access to my lip balm or to hand creme, which I also cannot live without.
My brother was a Chapstick addict. He was hospitalized following an accident and asked his wife not to bring him any Chapstick. He was suffering anyway, so he might as well suffer a little more! He kicked his habit this way and has been free of it for about 25 years.
Cell Phones on Planes? {Gadling}
Apr 8th 2007 2:22PM It is time for civility to be imposed upon us since we are not willing to be civil and courteous by ourselves when it comes to cell phone use. I applaud the decision to ban cell phone use in airplanes. How could anyone remain sane on a long-distance flight with "everyone loves to hear my voice and my business" people on their cell phones drowning out the extraneous noise that already accompanies journies on planes.
The Knee Defender: Preventing Airplane Seats from Reclining {Gadling}
Jan 9th 2007 11:23PM We were stationed in Germany years ago and took a tour of Munich on a tourbus. The man in front of me tipped his seat all the way back and his head was practically in my lap. I had no room to breathe and hated every moment of the tour.
Soooo, I decided to fight back when on a recent flight. The man in front of me had tipped his seat so far back that I couldn't use my tray, as it was against my body and at an angle. He got up to go to the bathroom, putting his seat upright before he left. I wedged my knees against the seat back and when he returned he had to sit with only a small recline for the remainder of the flight. I think that it is inconsiderate and really rude to not think of how your seat may affect the person behind you.
Most Baggage Lost Ever! {Gadling}
Oct 15th 2006 4:38PM We just vacationed in Mexico. One airline down and back, with stopovers in Philly both times. All our luggage was carry-on on the trip down. Mine was a backpack and a small suitcase that was stored in the overhead compartment. Fine for the way down, but I had to check my suitcase on the way back according to the Mexican officials. In Philly, I watched from the plane as the people who unloaded the baggage FLUNG the suitcases down and over onto the rolling baggage carrier. It is a wonder that anything the least bit fragile could withstand such treatment. The next time I travel, I will take nothing that I can't carry in my backpack and a big purse. By the way, my husband was allowed to take two carry-ons onto the plane in Mexico. He had more stuff than I did. Go figure.
