How to Choose a Great Middle Name {ParentDish}
Apr 22nd 2011 2:11AM My middle name comes from my father and my two sister's middle names come from my mother's sisters, Belva and Helene. My daughter's middle name is from my mother, Lorraine and my son's middle name is from my father, Herbert. My son used his grandmother's maiden name, Price, for his daughter's middle name. Using family namnes is a sort of tradition with us and I think it keeps the family history alive.
Can't Sleep? 5 All-Natural Insomnia Cures {MyDaily}
Jan 10th 2011 3:35AM I think that my bedroom violates almost every rule in the article. I have 3 huge floor to ceiling bookcases, my bed is directly under a ground lever 3' x 6' window, I have clutter all over the room, my home office and computer are in the corner, there is a large mirror in the room and the walls are cluttered with all kinds of things hanging on them. However, I sleep like a rock every night and wake up completely refreshed in the morning. Guess I'm just not a feng shui type of guy. LOL I think that if you are comfortable in an environment, it doesn't matter what that environment is, you can get a good night's sleep. Even in a punk rock bowling alley.
Roger Ebert Gets Fired Up Over 'Huck Finn' Censorship, Then Apologizes {PopEater}
Jan 7th 2011 5:24AM You can't change history. It's a fact. It happened. Read about it and learn from the mistakes of the past. If we erase all that offends there will be no lessons left to teach us the errors of the past and they will be more likely to be repeated in the future. The Muslims are trying to have the holocaust removed from all of the school history books because they don't believe it happened. If we go along with such wrongheaded thinking as editing Mark Twain to be politically correct and deleting the holocaust, where will it end and how will future generations learn about the evils of the past and not let them happen again? As I said, it's history. It happened. Live with it and learn from it.
Install a Ceiling Fan {DIY Life}
Apr 18th 2010 4:51PM The one, very important, thing that you neglected to mention is that for safety, the existing ceiling electrical box needs to be a fan rated box before you install a fan. If the box happens to be an old installation nailed or screwed to a joist on only one side the weight and motion of the fan could cause it to partially or completely rip out. If the box is an old work box that that someone used to add a ceiling light fixture it is being supported only by the sheetrock ceiling and will most likely rip out after the fan is installed. If the box that the new fan is installed on is not a fan rated box that is tied into the joists on both sides, someone could wind up with a ceiling fan falling down and doing a lot of property damage and possibly injuring someone.
What Movie(s) Have You Walked Out Of? {Cinematical}
Mar 5th 2010 3:47PM The only movie that I ever actually got up and walked out of was, "Who's Afraid of Virginia Wolf" That movie still stands as the worst movie I have ever seen. Because of all the aclaim it received I did watch the entire movie years later on TV to see if I missed some good parts. I didn't. It was still four beligerant drunks arguing with each other for an hour and a half. What a waste of film.
30 Percent of Americans Don't Use the Internet {Asylum}
Feb 20th 2010 12:36AM I'm 63 and I use my computer every day. I have found old friends from High School and the military that I thought were lost forever. I've made new friends in the UK, Germany, Taiwan, France, S. Africa, S. America and many other places that I talk to on Skype. I also get to see my kids & grandkids and talk to them. I pay bills, do my banking, comparison shop, write politicians and friends and just have a great time with my computer and the Internet. I don't have to have it. I think of it as a tool and a convenience. The only person I know that doesn't have a computer is my Mom and that's just because hers broke down and she's too cheap to get it fixed or get a new one
Student's Harvey Milk Report Censored By School {ParentDish}
May 25th 2009 10:59AM I see nothing wrong with giving a report on a politician that was murdered while in office. And if, as many of you have said, his sexual orientation was unimportant, just leave that out of the report. Report on his election, his short time in office, and what he accomplished while in office. Should be a very short presentation.
State sales tax holidays are your opportunity to save {WalletPop}
Apr 30th 2009 6:07AM In Oregon, every day is sales tax free day.
Internet purchases soon to include sales tax {WalletPop}
Apr 21st 2009 5:52AM Looks like all you people in the 48 states that have allowed yourselves to be sadled with a sales tax need to get a referendum together to abolish you sales tax and make this new law a moot point. Either that or move to the two states that don't have a sales tax.
Internet purchases soon to include sales tax {WalletPop}
Apr 21st 2009 5:43AM Lynn needs to go back and reread the Constitution. It's Article 1, Section 9, paragraph 5. It states that "No Tax or Duty shall be laidon Articles exported from any state." In other words, no state can impose an export tax. The proposed change is not an export tax. It is a sales tax imposed by the state in which the purchase was made the same as if you bought the item locally. It is not a violation of the Constitution, unfortunately. That doesn't mean we have to like it or accept it without complaint. Write your representatives. Tell them what you think.
